Booked your 2009 dates yet?

We are planning on staying at the Fort the last week of October and the first week of November, but we werent planning on booking until the middle of August. Is this too late? It would be a grand gathering, but I am starting to worry if there will be sites available. Any insight would be great !!!!

online they book 1 year in advance. 499 days on the phone. if you know your dates I'd book when you can just to be sure since it is a GG.

thank you......I just need to convice everyone that we need to do it sooner. How about this..........If I call and reserve a spot now for us, can I add it or switch it over later in August for a GG.......this way I know I will have a spot no matter what.

sure.

Course' to get a premium site I had to book a total of 10 days. But, I can always cancel what I don't need...yeah that makes sense Disney... to bad if anyone else really needed those other dates. One week for a minium stay at the sites aren't enough for Disney. Geeze...

In order to get a premium site you need to book a minimum number of days? I've never heard anyone mention that before.

The system tries desparately to have the Fort booked consistently, so tries to discourage folks from booking weekends only by showing no availability for 2 or 3 nights that involves a weekend, but try booking Wednesday - Wednesday or longer and "Bingo" those weekend days show up.

There is no minimum stay on room only, so just keep playing with the dates until your availability shows up, then call back and cancel the dates you don't need.

Yup, that's normal policy for a holiday. I should know I booked this stuff for years for Disney.

Remember, though for the min night stay I was talking about booking for valentine's day, which is considered a holiday. The place was packed this year and I don't think we even saw one site available. I couldn't even get it when I tried to book it way back in December '07, but I did luck out and got a cancellation last minute. I am not one to just hope I can go though, I am planner and anyone who plans on camping at Disney during a holiday should book as far in advance as possiable if you want a specific type of site. I have to have a premium location cause' I want the 800 loop. Disney also will have minuim night stays for their hotel rooms too sometimes during the holidays. But, having to book a site for 10 nights is a bit much to me, 7 night min I could understand. Oh well, I cancel what I don't need whenever I get around too it.

Anyway, I didn't mean to startel anyone, I was just trying to let everyone know that you can start booking for most of '09. I bet their are alot of folks out there that book a year in advance and it's not just me. :)

PS
I'll be calling next month to book my 2009 Thanksgiving holiday weekend as soon as it's avail. :)

It's actually more than holiday weekends. Let me see if I can explain. After a certain number of sites gets booked up, they try to restrict weekends only

Let's say a premium site is available February 25th - March 4th, 2009. (A non holiday weekend). The "system" will only show availability for those dates if you ask for all of those dates. The reason being is that if they allowed somebody to book just February 28th & March 1st (the weekend), it would be almost impossible to sell that site for February 25th - 27th and March 2nd - 4th.

So, if you want just a couple of nights, try adding extra nights before and after what you want. It is not really a minimum, just the system's attempt to sell all of the nights. After you have booked and payed your deposit, call back the next day and cancel the nights you don't need. NO PROBLEM AT ALL, (unless you book under some special promotion that does have a minimum)

Hi everyone,

Well it looks like most of ya'll memorial day campers should have already booked by now as they are booking sites through October 2009 at this point. I still have to wait to get my Thanksgiving weekend (I think they said you could only book 499 days out). I wasn't able to book online, but calling direct I was able to book Valentine's Day weekend for 2009. Course' to get a premium site I had to book a total of 10 days. But, I can always cancel what I don't need...yeah that makes sense Disney... to bad if anyone else really needed those other dates. One week for a minium stay at the sites aren't enough for Disney. Anyway, just thought I'd remind ya'll to start booking for next year if you hadn't already. ;)

Happy booking!

Thanks I just stuck a "post it" note on DW forehead to make our 2009/10 Xmas ressies. I said to make them for 15 Dec 2009 to 25 Jan 2010 and she said "I was thinking about 30 Jan" :thumbsup2 Gotta love that forward thinking.

I tried to book during MLK week in January but 4 of the 6 days were already gone. I was able to get Feb 1 through 7 with no problem though.

I know it's early and there is alot of time for cancellations but we just called and could not get anything for July 4th 2009 just a tent site and nothing for Memorial Day 2009 either.

It's very possible that all the sites have not been released yet. Once the 2009 packages come out and 2009 AAA rates have been released, they will open up availability.

The same thing happened for 2008

You might be right. Geeze, we can only hope that's actually the case. I think the 2009 packages are released soon...isn't like July or August? I would certainly check back once they are resleased!

I just tried to book something... ANYTHING for January 16 - February 1 and there was NOTHING. :headache:

I am SO bummed!

Was able to book 4/5-4/12/09 premium site at $110/night just today. CM said that pricing should go down when rates are released in Aug. Can apply discounts later i.e., AP/FL resident, etc.

Same thing I was told yesterday. I tried Jan 10th - Feb 18th and nothing. Had to settle for Feb 19th - 28th.
