I booked with Orbitz yesterday and today the price has dropped by $40. I know its not a significant difference, but I wish changing the reservation was easier. It looks like I'd have to cancel my current reservation and reserve it again at the lower price, which would be fine if it didn't mess up my credit card. It can take forever for the refund to show up, so it would show both charges on my card for awhile and I don't really like that. I'm not sure its worth the hassle to save $40, but if the price drops more I will be cancelling and rebooking. Does anyone else have experience with booking and then the price drops?

Really just the same general idea. The cc charge didn't bother me though so I didn't have a problem with it.

I rebooked twice with Cheaptickets (same parent company as Orbitz) for my upcoming Universal stay. The refund showed up within a couple of days--not the weeks that the policy states. I would assume it's the same with Orbitz. It was actually really easy to book the new rate, make sure I got my confirmation, then cancel the old. Overall, I saved about $100.

I just checked my credit card statement. The refund showed up the same day I cancelled. Of course, this doesn't guarantee the same will happen for you, but I've read from others that the refund showed up fast for them too.

Had to do this to add days-refund did show up quick-2-3 days (might have been sooner but that was when I checked my CC)

Are you sure it isn't cheaper because you earned Orbucks with the reservation you made, which are now being applied to the rate?

That's a good thought. Also, at time of original booking, only rack rates may have been available for the room category/dates being booked; if someone canceled, their discounted room may have gone back into inventory.

Hmm I'm not sure about the Orbucks. Would that show under discounts somewhere?

ETA: I don't think they are Orbucks because it says you have to sign in to Orbitz to earn them and I didn't do that.

If you're going to rebook, take the Orbucks this time :)
