I decided to book a last minute VGT booking on the 3-night Baja cruise on the Wonder leaving next week at the start of my teen's spring break. This will be our 4th Disney cruise, but the first time doing a guaranteed room with restrictions and first time sailing out of San Diego.
Super excited even though the cruise is so short (we usually sail 7 nights).

- Given how late we booked how soon might we find out our cabin assignment?
- We live about 6 hours away by car. I'm thinking of driving part way the night before (due to work/school commitments) and finishing the drive the morning of the cruise (2.5-3 hours). Does this seem too risky? (I do have travel insurance that would cover things like weather, freeway being closed, accidents, but not car trouble).
- Or if we are able to fully drive the day before the cruise - any recommendations on hotels near the port? Especially ones that might allow us to keep our car parked there during the cruise.
- I got a PAT of 1:45 since we are so late to the game. Is it worth trying to show up earlier at the cruise port?
- Any favorite things to do on Catalina Island? This will be our first visit.
