Just got off the phone and Disney has no rooms for 12/16 thru 12/23. I find it hard to believe there are no rooms the week before x-mas? That is still value season. Is the whole country off that week?

I mean no rooms, nothing anywhere, is this because of their system enhancement, why would they tell you no rooms at chance of losing business, that can't be it.

This was a last minute "Hey let's go to Disney for the holiday" so I'm OK with it but still it's hard to believe there are no rooms?

December is a pretty popular month for travelling to WDW. Cooler weather and Christmas decorations are big incentives for visiting then. I'm finding that you need to book a room as soon as you can in order to guarantee you get the resort you want. In the early 1990s you had to book a year or more in advance to get a reservation. I can see with the dining plan and various incentives that it could be like that again.

Were there no rooms for the whole week?? Or was it just the 22 & 23rd... it might be the weekend is booked but not the rest. May not be first choice but you could try moving somewhere nearby just for the weekend part.
Also keep checking back because people do cancel.

Funny, the CM and I talked about that, I remember when you had to book at least a year out.

Maybe it had something to do with the 22nd and 23rd, didn't check a shorter stay, wanted the whole week.

See ya

We're doing the land/sea the first week of December. I tried to add an extra night at the beginning of our stay and put on a waitlist. I checked WDW direct (prior to the software update) and the only things available were a suite at GF and a suite at Saratoga Springs.

Found out after we made our inital ressies that this is the Pop Warner week - the reason why we chose that week and not the week after was because when we went in 2002 Pop Warner was the second week.

Keeping our fingers crossed that we get our waitlist.

December is a very popular time to visit Disney and trying to book now for then is very hard. If going in December you should book about a year in advance. The only other alternative is staying outside of Disney and even then it could be tough. Good luck

I tried to upgrade my friend and myself for Nov. 30 - Dec. 4th about two weeks ago and there was NOTHING. :confused3

Yesterday, the Cms said that the computers would be down until Oct 23.Call back Monday and try again. You might have better luck.

Holiday Season at the AKL (anyway) starts up on the 20th, Value ends on the 19th so your dates are partially Value and partially Holiday at least there and probably many resorts. I bet there is something for some of the days anyway. Keep trying...if you HAD to you could take something on site for some days and move off site. Not ideal I know but you might be able to get in on a later date but at the very least have something reserved. Good luck!

I just looked on Expedia and they have several WDW hotels with vacancies, all types (value, mod, deluxe, DVC) with the value hotels as low as $69/night.

Good luck! :)

I called this afternoon for a one night stay that week. They had availability, but couldn't book becuase of the system change/upgrade. I did have the option to get on a waitlist that would be confirmed with a call or email. The CM told me after 1 pm on Tuesday everything would be back to normal.

Due to guidebooks and forums such as this and Disney promotions and commercials the word is out about December.

Many dates during the entire month are booked solid even earlier in the month.

Parks will not be as busy as other months as the off site hotels are not booked but Disney does a booming business the entire month.

Sometimes travelocity looks like it has availability but when you try to book and complete the transaction it won't allow it to happen. I've seen this 3 times with WDW resorts.

Try checking bookit.com Unless their system is outdated they are showing most Disney properties still available that week.

I can tell you that 3 days ago when I was checking, there were rooms available at POR, BC, YC, BWI, Poly, ASMu.
I think the chances that everything was booked in the last 2 days are pretty much zero.
From everything I've seen, the first 3 weeks of december are still a relatively uncrowded time to go. I would be willing to bet money that it is just because of their res system being down.

Thanks to all the replies, it really does look like Disney is booming again, I can remember when you would have to book a year out, I've been spoiled, I usually book my vacations 2 to 4 months with them and never had a problem, even at X-mas and Easter and 4th of July.

I am going to keep trying though.

Thanks again

Exactly.........I have tried this also several times and the same with Expedia, so although you may check until you book it there you do not REALLy know if there is availability. But as others have said you could try and book something in downtown Disney and then wait and keep checking with the Disney site.
