I am currently booked for room only at WL for Aug. 2014 and received a code to upgrade to a package by adding tickets and getting a free park hopper option. Does anyone know if this can be added to my current reservation or will I have to rebook to use the code? I had called on the phone but reservationist wasn't very clear on an answer.

I've never heard of that kind of code - I guess it depends on the code!;)
But under normal circumstances you have to cancel your RO reservation to book a new package. typically they have to refund the money you have on your RO reservation and you have to put a new $200 deposit down (or payment in full if within 45 days).
But with a *code* the rules may be different for you. :)

Out of curiosity what price were you quoted for the room? We booked 2 nights at the Wilderness Lodge and were quoted $190 per night inclusive of all taxes for Friday and Saturday night. I upgrade to include 6 day park hoppers so it was another $1350. We used a travel agent but it seems like they don't like us posting the name here...

We are also staying at the Poly for 5 nights from 8/21 - 8/26 for $1063.15 inclusive. Seemed like a good deal but I haven't stayed at Disneyworld before so I am unsure.

Thank you for all your responses.
When I called to see about adding tickets to my current reservation I was told that the current room I have reserved was not available only club level rooms were and I decided to just keep what I have already booked!

Thank you! Yes, I would have lost my current room and ended up paying more than I had originally planned. I need to research a little further before I upgrade to a package:)

Can you tell me what kind of discount rate or package that was?

$190 including taxes is nearly a 45% discount on the $299 rack rate for your dates.

Assuming $380 for the room, you're paying $343 for each ticket. A base 6-day ticket (no hopper, no FUN) is $334.41.

That's *incredible*! I haven't seen rates like that in years - and they were generally not straight discounts but Buy 4 Stay 7 type packages. So I'd love to know if the pricing you got is available to the public, Visa cardholders, passholders, etc, etc.

Thanks!

Brett

There is no way Disney offered a 57% discount. Something has to be off somewhere. Maybe they rented DVC points or booked through an outside agency.

It could be some sort of group rate but 57% still seems a huge discount for group discount.
