I am happy to report that I have booked a room only reservation for 2008!!! I called Disney this morning and they were great! I had 3 resorts in mind, the Contemporary, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Wilderness Lodge. I am going for my honeymoon so I want it to be extra special.

Packages won't be out for next month or 2! but at least if you book a room only ressie, you are GUARENTED:cool1: that room for the following year! I was not aware of that until now. Even though the price will go up, you will at least have your reservation knowing you have hotel room and resort.:thumbsup2

Animal Kingdom still have Savannah view room with or with out concierge available.

Wilderness Lodge still has the honeymoon suite with concierge and the Junior suites available but it is not as popular as the contemporary.

Surprisingly enough, there were no standard rooms with Magic Kingdom view available for the Contemporary ALREADY!! That is very strange, the honeymoon suite was booked as well, the only rooms that were available was the 14th floor tower standard room with Concierge with Magic Kingdom view. We will have a private balcony where we can watch MK's fireworks!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: Even though this was the most expensive room out of all 3, I booked the Contemporary for 10 nights in June 2008!! I am soooo excited that I finally have a room and reservation! All I have to do is call up Disney when the rates come out and I can just add a package to my reservation so that sounds easy enough.

Another good thing I found out is that if you book tickets this year for next year, and the prices for the tickets increase for next year, you will not have to pay the extra, you are locked into your ticket price for 2007! Not sure if anyone knew that but it was news to me.:)

But I do have a general question for you all Disney lovers, is contemporary worth the extra money??? For the new renovated rooms and the look everything that I have seen online, it seems that it will be sooooo worth it but I would like other opinions as well. Thanks in advance!!

Woo-woo! :cool1:
Awesome to hear that!!! Good for you!!!!
Now I just have to get brave and book my room for 2008...

That sounds great!

How far in advance can I book a room for December 2008??
We are planning on staying at CR, too.

Actually, you've been able to book a room only for 2008 for quiet awhile now. You just cannot book packages yet as far as I know. Regardless, you will be quoted the 2007 price until the new rates are released, then you will obviously be required to pay the correct amount.

As far as booking for Dec. yet, I do not know, you can call to find out.

You can definitely book a 2008 room only reservation right now. I booked our June, 2008 stay at the Wilderness Lodge about 2 weeks ago. I wanted to assure I would at least get the resort I want.

When the 2008 rates come out, you have two options.

One is keep your room only with the price being adjusted to 2008 rates.

Second is cancel the room only and book a 2008 package. I was told by the CM that you will actually keep the same room you booked but they would refund you the money you paid for the first night. I had to pay $298.00 at the Wilderness Lodge which is actually more than the $200.00 you would have to pay for the package. The CM will then add the tickets and dining plan (if you want the dining plan). I will have 14 days from the date I change to a package to make the $200.00 payment.

When you go to add a package to your already existing room only reservation, you have to cancel your room and then add a package? Will you be able to get the same room as you originally booked?

About the first night's desposit you had to give to Disney to reserve the room only reservation, can you tell them to just apply that to your package instead of refunding you? Because honestly, what we had to give disney as a deposit for the room only was a subtantial amount of money so that would be nice if it can just be applied to the cost of the package.

Any help would be great! Thanks

You were told exactly as I was. We are planning on heading back to WL next June as well. I made our ressie about 2 weeks ago.

As for the OP's question about CR--it is awesome! We were there this May for 3 nights (then headed to the BC--wishing we'd never switched!). My husband said "This is the most relaxing room I have ever been in!). The linens/pillows/duvet on the bed were SO comfy. We were upgraded at check-in to a Tower Bay Lake View room. We had booked a garden view, garden wing room. The convenience of the monorail was priceless. It never felt busy or crowded there. We would stay again next year, except we're trying to save a couple hundred $$$ and we haven't been back to WL in a while. I don't think you can go wrong with CR. We will definitely be back there one day soon.

I asked the same question when I booked. I was told that they would have to refund the original room only deposit and I would be required to pay the package deposit. I understood them to say that I would keep the same room as I had when I booked room only.

Hmmmm I am considering going with friends in Dec 2008 or Jan 2009. We were waiting till the packages come out next month...so are you telling me we can book a "room only" then change to package later? Wow!

Also, what if a better deal comes along? Can you change your ressie to that?

I heard Disney is going to get rid of the "season" thing they do and so I was wondering how that would effect the pricing. Anyone heard of this?

I saw this on Allears...

Please note the following information is UNofficial and
has not been released by Walt Disney World.
All Ears "hears" it's coming!

Major changes are coming to the hotel reservation system beginning June 23, 2007. At that time, a new program will be instituted for all reservations beginning January 1, 2008. Pricing and rates for 2008 Walt Disney World hotels will become date specific.

Here's how it effects your budget: You will pay a nightly rate based on the season of that date. If you reserve night 1 under the value season and nights 2-5 under peak season, you will no longer be able to maintain the value season rate for the entire reservation.

Premium rates will now be applied for premium dates. A weekend may be considered premium so that friday and saturday night pricing may be higher than sunday - thursday, even if in the same "season".

In theory, you could be paying a different price for each night of your stay.

The upside, if there is one, is that you no longer have to split reservations and recheck into your hotel.

No word on how this may effect Annual Passholder rates.

When making room only reservations for 2008 you must specifically ask for the rate for each night otherwise you will just be given a total price for your stay. Package pricing will not be broken down by day.

More details as they become available
