Hey Ya'll-Gal from TX here with a toddler who loves MICKEY! First time I'm going to WDW as an adult (i went last when I was 7 LOL!!)

We just decided 2 weeks ago that we will go to Orlando this Wednesday-staying at the Contemporary Resort. I'm wondering-is there chances that chef Mickey's would be available if I walk up to the restaurant, or should I call and ask if there r any cancellations! Both Chef Mickey's and Ohana character bfast and CM's dinner is booked for all the days we are there! What are my options? What could i possibly do? :0(

Also, how late can we cancel a character bfast. I have a reservation for Cape Cafe May but i am not sure if we want to get up early and get out to the beach resort just for bfast....esp since we are already seeing Goofy and Pluto the night before at the Fresh Mediterranean! I do think I am going to cancel, if anyone is interested, let me know by Monday night...we can figure something out.

Just keep calling and if you dont get it - when you are there try concierge desk.

I think that Mickey also makes an appearance at Donad's Breakfastasaruas at the Animal Kingdom - If you're planning to go to AK, that might work.

As to cancelling, there really isn't a problem or penalty no matter when you cancel. The only thing to worry about is the meals that require a credit card deposit (Hoop Dee Doo, etc.).

Hope you and your family have a blast on your trip!

You can see Mickey at the Garden Grill in Epcot. You would probably be able to get an ADR there. We go often, the food is good, and the characters are wonderful (Mickey, Chip & Dale, Pluto).

Keep calling, even after you arrive at WDW. I wouldn't recommend walking up to Chef Mickey's. Your chances of getting in are very slim, and how disappointed would your toddler be if they thought they were going to see Mickey, and then could see Mickey and his friends having fun....and then you had to turn around and leave?

Definitely go to the concierge when you check in. When we were staying at the Poly, we couldn't get an ADR for Ohana, but the concierge got us in b/c we were staying there. We have walked in to Chef mickey's before. We waited about 1/2 hr and walked around the shops on the concourse. That was before they had the DDP, though. Gool luck & enjoy your trip!

Just keep trying. You may be lucky enough to snag a No show. I'd just give a call each morning your there to check before you head out. Good Luck

Start calling for ressie's at Chef Mickey's now, and if you can't get one ...continue to call once you get there. As other's have posted, go to the concierge at the hotel, and ask them if there's an opening.

As far as cancelling breakfast, as soon as you know you will definitely not be going, call and cancel. As other posters have said, there is no penalty for not cancelling (except those that you booked with credit card hold), but the sooner you cancel, the sooner someone else can pick it up!

Hope you have a great trip!

Keep calling, I'm trying to get Chef Mickey next week, Thurs or Fri but no available. BUT I did get at the last minute Ohana's breakfast on the 13 on Mother's Day.

The best time to call is at 8am..I called 20 minutes before closing at 10pm after trying all day yesterday!

We just got back from our trip to the CR and we originally had a 7:10 ADR for Tuesday 5/1. Well Sunday morning 4/29 we walked down to have breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse and DH says Chef Mickey looks empty let me go see while you wait here (didnt want DS4 to be disappointed if we couldnt get in) so him and the dad standing behind us run over while we tell the hostess at Concourse Steakhouse what we are doing (they were very understanding). Well we totally scored (us and the family behind us) and we walked right in (I want to say this was around 7:30ish). Thank goodness I had my camera with me.

We then called later that day to cancel the Tues ADR.

We also saw Mickey at Garden Grill to for lunch on our Epcot day. Kids loved it and the food was good so you could try there too. Cant get enough of the big guy in our house!

Hope this helps!

I also think you should try walking up at opening time. If it doesn't work for breakfast then try it for dinner. The suggestions of Donald's @ AK or Garden Grill @ Epcot are also good.

In fact we walked up to Garden Grill two days after Christmas at lunch opening and asked if there was any way we could get in and she said if you are ready to eat now we will seat you, otherwise there was nothing. It was a great meal and very fortunate because we were on the DDP and had one TS option left to use & everything everywhere was booked solid. We had had to cancel a meal a few days earlier & were just going to be stuck with this extra TS meal if we hadn't been able to get in to GG.

Good luck!

Thank you all sooo much for the good tips. I never realized how considerate and helpful the people on this forum is. Thanx once again....i should try all of them if possible and will let you all know how things turned out!
