It's still a YEAR away... I just figured it was time to join the fun here. I've been lurking around the Camping Board for a while, and I can't wait to get there. To hear the FW "Veterans" describe it, everything at FW sounds like so much fun.
We've always camped around Michigan, but this summer is the first time that we've got our own trailer. After summers of tenting, or borrowing or sharing with friends and inlaws we bought our first trailer last fall, a Jayco 31BHS. We've already enjoyed a few camping weekends this spring. For this summer, July is the big month with 3 weeks booked at various campgrounds (Note to self, you've got 3 weeks to figure out how to backup into a campsite.....)
So now that we've got our own trailer, we decided we needed a BIG trip. And what could be bigger the Disney. So we booked the Fort for June 6 to 14 of next year. My DW and I know about the trip, and we're trying to keep it a secret from the kids (10 and 5) until Christmas. We're also going to have my DW's parents come with us as well. It will be the kids 2nd trip, and the In Laws FIRST.....Planning will really get started soon as we try to figure out what we're going to be doing for dining, tickets, etc, etc...
I found the "DIS" before our last trip, and while my DW laughed at me for all the "tips" I was giving her while we were planning, she did realize what a benefit it provided during our trip....I'd just like to thank everyone for the great information you provide. And I'm sure I'll thank you again when I ask questions over the next few months.
So now for the first of many questions....
How are the crowds in Early June? I saw the other thread about the Fort and parks being empty now, and was wondering if that was a normal thing for this time of year, or if this year's economy is scaring people off?
2nd - for anyone who is from Michigan, Indiana, Chicago, Wisconsin areas. Any ideas as to how long of a drive from Indianapolis to Atlanta? We're starting to look for possible routes and campsites along the way. I don't want to kill us getting there and be to wiped out to enjoy the place for a couple of days.....
Thanks again,
362 days and counting till FW arrival
