Just curious - you had a cash trip scheduled then got sucked down the DVD rabbit hole, joined, then cancelled your cash trip? Is that the progression?

Congrats!

I was researching DVC since around October. After I explained what I wanted to do to my wife and daughter my daughter and granddaughter wanted to take a trip this August and I was not sure I would have everything completed in time to book everything, so I booked a refundable cash stay just in case.

I always planned on using DVC points if at all possible.

We own a180 points at SSR but my purchase had 90 banked points. There are 2 points which I will now bank for 2024.

In the meantime, we are looking at an additional contract to get us to about 300 points.

We really have until August 2025 since for our 2024 trip we can borrow points to cover the stay.

It gives us time to buy what we want at a price we are happy with.

I can't think of anything except noting the date your 60+10 ADR booking window opens. If you're not already skimming the Theme Parks and Restaurants forums regularly, you might want to start that too, just to know the status of various attractions and restaurants that might be of interest. Depends on how much of a planner you want to be!

Got it. I am in the (heavy) research phase - did you end up buying resale or direct? I am really on the fence. Seems like a combo of both might be the best.

Congratulations! I always suggest buying some discounted Disney Gift Cards for your food and souvenir purchases! If you have a Target Red Card you can save 5%, or a wholesale card, you can usually find a good deal. BJs often does a Christmas in July sale on gift cards and I scoop some up during that! Enjoy your trip :)

Congrats!! 🥳:woohoo: The best busy morning it can be!

How about setting your reminders/alarms for ADR?

You can book your owner's locker last minute, no worries. :)
I am still trying to convince my wife we need it.

She travels with multiple bags of stuff if we are just going to the store. I dread her packing for a week away.

I want to get down to a carry on each for any trip.

Sync it to MDE and look at the Magic Bands. They've been switching out a lot, so if you see one you like book it now. If not, check back in a couple weeks. They're a lot cheaper when you pre-order, and they come in a neat box before the trip, which is fun.

While I don't know if that is possible, quite yet, maybe you can at least get yourself to one? LOL.

In all seriousness, I do love not having to pack things like make up, round blow dryer, straightener, etc, along with the staples like dryer sheets, medical things, Tervis tumbler for drinks!

Brita pitcher and filters...

I can get myself down to one of the old plastic grocery store bags. Plenty of room for what I want to wear on vacation.

If she wears ears, that's its' great for those. A third of our owner's locker is dedicated to my wife's ear collection. We keep a Brita, although I find it to be wasteful that we only use it the length of our trip before throwing out the filter (although I tell myself it's probably better than ordering a case of bottled water). Great for storing popcorn buckets as well for endless refills!

I couldn’t agree more! Our owners locker is worth every penny, especially because we can take cheaper flights, knowing we won’t have to pay for luggage! We go with a personal item bag every time now! I love traveling light! It’s such a different experience!
