Firstly, hi, and thanks for producing such a marvellous site!

You'll see i'm new, and as such , clueless, but I wondered if you could help me out with a transport issue.

We are staying at Newport Bay, 25th-28th Octber (arggh! Only 3 weeks away!) and have VEA rolled in to our deal. However, our flight back to the UK from CDG leaves at 11am on the Wednesday.

The timetable from VEA states that a bus leaves our hotel at 8.05. Will we definitely all (there are 4 of us) get a seat on this, and will we get to CDG in time to check in?

I feel slightly sick about it now, and can see us missing flights and having a ruined holiday.

PLease put my mind at rest or offer another solution!

Welcome - you are a little lost as you most likely intended to post this on the DLRP board.

However, as I am most likely one of the most frequent DLRP visitors on this site and wrote a comparison of VEA vs TGV for this website years ago, I'll try and help.

Since the VEA starts running relatively 'late' in the AM ie for early departures it is often too late, the early busses can be busier. Typically on Sundays the busses are very busy. Both the VEA and TGV seem to be geared towards the UK flights as more visitors fly from there I suspect than from most other countries.

Having said that, I have never seen a VEA bus FROM the resorts leave passengers completely stranded. I have been on a bus which was full, and which didn't stop as scheduled, but another bus was dispatched to pick up the passengers. I have had VEA busses leave CDG leaving many passengers behind, but at the resorts it seems to have people covered (there are many busses serving many routes in the mornings)

I don't think that you will need to worry - just make sure that you arrive at the stop fairly early, especially as check out can take quite some time.

Have a great time, you are going during a wonderful season!

Sorry - i'm such an idiot - i'll try to find the right board....but thanks for your help in the meantime! I did recognise your name from reading threads. If not eh VEA, would the TGV be a better option do you think?

TGV is also a good option, IF you are familiar with trains (and you would most likely be, many American posters are not). I never really thought about how different trains are in Europe from Amtrak until I took kathleena to the station one morning and walked her through all the steps!

The train takes 10 minutes, but you are at the train station at T2 at CDG so need to consider that if your flight leaves from T1 or consider how you and your luggage and family are going to get to your terminal. CDGVal has made it quite a bit easier in recent years.

If the VEA is already prepaid as part of your package, I wouldn't worry too much. The first TGV leaves around 0730hrs so you would have more of a cushion, but I wouldn't pay twice for the convenience. And if you have small children and need to take the hotel shuttle to the train station and then the train and then the CDGVal to the terminal, the bus is still easier.

Here is a link to CDGVal info if you do go that route http://www.easycdg.com/pages/cdgval_light_railpag.html

I still don't think that you should be too worried. I actually never book or intend to take the VEA, but have sometimes ended up on it quite by chance from CDG or a resort when I didn't have a TGV ticket and the bus appeared, with space.

Best of luck whatever you decide! :)

Oh, and you're not an 'idiot'! You found an answer within 6 minutes, didn't you? ;) Duds must have flashed the bat signal because I found your question. I was just worried that all the other readers on this part of the board are thinking that you are 'crazy' talking about Newport Bay and VEA. I fully expect someone to come along and chide you and 'correct' you that you are staying at the Yacht and Beach Club and taking ME, so wanted to ensure that readers understood your question! :rotfl:

Maybe Mom will let this post stay here and not move it; I often thought that 'Transportation' should cover all types of Disney transportation. So you did find a smart place to post.

Is this what you saw?

Between you and carolina_yankee I am definitely corrupted. Whoever thought that school teachers and men of the cloth were good influences? :lmao:

I don't know anything about VEA (except that I think the bus takes about an hour), but I do know that TGV is awesomely fast. It took less than 15 minutes for me to get from CDG to DLP on it. I highly recommend it! :thumbsup2

If you decided to take TGV back, the easiest thing to do IMO is buy your tickets while you're still at CDG. There's a ticket office on the main level of the train station.

edited to add: I should have read the responses before posting - I see bavaria has you covered! :)
