Hi Folks!

I am so excited! Just booked my first trip. I actually booked for BWV- standard view (just what does that mean?) and hopefully when December 1 comes along there will be a 1 bedroom available at SSR for the same time period and I'll just switch it at that time. If not, then Boardwalk here we come! I am walking on air. I can't wait to see the mouse!

Do you own somehwere in addition to SSR? I thought we weren't allow to book until dec 1 at all. am I wrong?

The best meaning is that you get to stay at the Boardwalk but for fewer points than a preferred view. The standard view rooms look out on the entrance driveway/parking lot to the Boardwalk Villas and Inn. The rooms at the end that are on higher floors have a pretty good view of EPCOT fireworks.

Standard view rooms can be hard to come by. Congratulations. Have fun.

The way it works is that you are allowed to make reservations 7 months out as long as they are made for the time period after SSR opens. I guess the date that they are operating on is May 17th and since my reservation starts approx. a week later we were allowed to make them now. I hope to switch them over to SSR on Dec. 1!

Thanks.

Congrats on getting the BWV Standard View.

You do realize that when you switch to SSR, it will cost more points, right? Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that...since my understanding of the SSR point chart is that it falls between the points per night of the BWV Standard and Preferred views.

Hi Granny,

Yes I knew about the extra points ( I think its about 15 more, but it will be worth it!!) As long as I have enough to do HH the next year I am a happy DVCer!

Thanks for caring1

Hi Lucy

Do you mind me asking what your use year/projected closing date is? I tried to call today to make reservations for BCV May 23rd -28th.

We just purchased SSR this month, so our projected closing date is May. After 15 minutes of holding on the line for the gal at MS who was clueless about reservations for SSR owners, I was told that since our purchase was not part of the first building, we could not use the May 17th date. I was also told that they don't have official opening dates for ANY of the other buildings, so they can't give me a date where the 7 month window will start (since SSR members can't stay at any other resort until SSR opens). If the other buildings are opening June 1st...then the 7 month window will start in a few days.

This is very frustrating. I understand the reasoning for the May 17th date and it makes sense that people who purchased points in the first building (and close in April rather than May) have the advantage. Actually, I think our guide told us June 1st...but member services cannot even confirm that. Basically, she told me to call my "sales guy" to try to get the details of what I will be able to do and when I'll be able to do it. Now I can't even plan our trip, because I can't stay anywhere until "my" building at SSR opens...and they don't know when that will be!

I guess I'll call him and then call MS back to see if I can get someone who has a better understanding of this.
