I have been thinking about the solo thing since my last trip last Dec, with my DH who would rather be anywhere else and two teenage girls(everything was BO-ring)and my 2yo who needed at a nap as soon as we got there. So, the discount codes came out and I went for it.

Now DH thinks I'm having an affair. He is joking about it, but underneath I think he is worried. I find this hilarious because the whole reason I am going is so I can do what I want, and having someone else along would really mess up my plans.;)

Is this a common reaction from your spouse/SO?

My hubby has not voiced that concern, but my brother has asked me if I was having an affair. I simply tell him that I'm taking some time for me, that's why I travel alone. I also tell him that I'm grown and to mind his own business. ;)

I can totally respect that and so should others. I think its awesome that you cant take time for yourself and do what you want to do when you want to. I would love to be able to do that someday! Have a blast!

My family doesn't have much to say, but every time I mention I'm going back or if someone sees my vacation days on the schedule my coworkers usually make a comment like, "You're going back to see Mickey? Do you two have something going on down there or something?" I have had a couple of them seriously ask me if I had someone down there I was meeting. For some reason my coworkers just don't get that there is more to do down there than see the characters:confused3 . Excuse me, but this will be the third fall I've had free dining, plus I like the F&W Festival, Dec has all the Christmas stuff, and May has the Flower Festival. I see nothing wrong with going three times a year.

"You're going back to see Mickey? Do you two have something going on down there or something?"

That's great- an affair with Mickey! :rotfl: That's what I'll tell DH. :ssst: Just don't tell Minnie...

Some people enjoy time alone. Some people dread it. My MIL, when asked during a game, "Where would you like to go alone for a week answered NO WHERE! I could NEVER be alone that long!"

I would LOVE to be alone for a week! We're all different. Show DH your schedules and lists and what you'll be doing so he really gets it. Poor guy. Hope he truly does not believe you are having an affair.

:rotfl: My DH needs to have a talk with yours! I've gone solo about 10 times, and DH just encouraged me to take another trip in a 17 days and 21 hours (or so). Southwest is having a great sale on airfare from here to WDW, so he said "you mean, you haven't booked it yet?" My first solo trip was a gift from him. He knows it's real-he says he knows I wouldn't have an affair there because it would take away from "maximum fun time at Wally World!" He's actually relieved when I go solo, because then, when we do go there together (once every couple of years), I don't pressure him to go on the "kiddie rides", as he calls some of them, or go to character meals all the time. However, I did meet another solo woman there once whose DH is fine with it, but her in-laws are sure she's having an affair there, so they don't tell the in-laws!

I would go alone. I live in Ga and I would want to drive there. My husband has a thing about me driving long distances by myself. He would want me to fly and rent a car. I can't see spending the money on a flight and a car rental. I like the freedom of having my own car. Maybe I will take his suggestion. I think I'm going to plan a solo trip for next fall. I want to do the Food and Wine Fest.

Oh yeah, my husband is well aware of the affair I'm having with the Mouse. It's a beautiful thing.:goodvibes

, "You're going back to see Mickey? Do you two have something going on down there or something?" .

yep ...seems like Mickey is having a fling really gets around..

My Dh would love to go during Mousefest.. but someone needs to stay with the kids..

Solo trips are fantastic! I was a little apprehensive the first time, because when you're used to going with the family and friends, you wonder if you'll have as much fun by yourself. I have more fun! It's so liberating to do what you want to do, when you want to do it. I don't make any schedules - I just go with the flow. I find I spend more time enjoying the resort on solo trips than I do on friend/family trips. And it's soooo much more relaxing!

I just got back from a trip last night (with mom and daughter) and I started thinking about a solo trip around my birthday in October for 3 days. I have always wanted to go to Food and Wine. I have no problem traveling by myself......
