booked March...just one odd thing....

I went to AAA on Tuesday and booked our package for March 20-27 at the yacht club, 6 day base ticket w/ water parks (no hopping), regular dining. I mentioned to the TA that we were celebrating the birthdays of our DDs. One is 16 on March 2, one will be 13 on April 11. Odds are we will never be down there on the actual days, and our trip is right in the middle. She asked who's birthday was what day and I explained that the actual days were not on our trip, but around it, and she said "I don't think they will do anything if it is not during the actual trip."
That just surprised me because last summer of 06 we celebrated our 20th anniversary in July since we couldn't go in June (when the actual date was). The same TA booked that trip and didn't mention a problem. I did mention the bdays when I made our dining ADRs.
So my only request is a view of the wedding gazebo. Hope we get it again! If I go back in I may ask her again to call and mention it. 16 and 13 are big bdays, and with the trip, presents will be slim to none!

I have never had a problem with celebrating b-ays on different days (other than actual b-day). Let them know when you check in that you will be celebrating b-days and on what days. They don't need to know that it's not their "actual" b-day, just the day you are celebrating it!

Hi, You could pick a day,get ADR's at a nice restaurant,order a cake and CELEBRATE both Birthdays. You could tell the restaurant that since this trip is their gift, you have chosen to celebrate their Birthdays while on vacation! I know some places will put confetti on the table. ENJOY!! Joan

That is what we did. We were on the road to WDW on my DH's actual B-day, but they gave him a button and he wore it 2 days later for his B-day breakfast at O'hana. They even brought out a decorated cupcake after we finished eating. When we were there in December we celebrated our Anniversary during the whole trip, including the actual day, everyone made us feel really special, cause we both wore our Anniversary buttons everyday of the trip. We got special treats at our Anniversary breakfast at CRT and dinner at WCC, I also ordered a 6" cake as a surprise for DH and it cost $12.00 plus tax (best cake and icing I have ever tasted). We even got a special call from Mickey and Minnie at the store that is now gone from the castle, they were wishing us a Happy Anniversary.

I am sure there are plenty of people at WDW celebrating a special occassion and they aren't there on the actual day. We will celebrate our Anniversary this December, even though we aren't there on the actual day.

Make sure when you book your ADR's that you let them know you are celebrating birthdays, because they will put either Mickey or Castle confetti and streamers on your table.

Disney doesn't "do" anything special for all birhtdays anyways. Even ones celebrating them on the actual day. Some people have gotten a free cake, but it's not a given. It depneds mostly on the server and/or resturant. You can order ahead of time if you want to have one for sure. I have heard of resorts bringing balloons too, but again, thsi doesn't happen all the time. Just here and there. I would get the birthday buttons at you hotel, and mention with all you ADRs that you are celebrating birthdays. And maybe you wil lget lucky and get something extra, but if not, who cares. You will most likely get some happy birthdays from other people and have a wonderful time. If you reeally want something special done, then order a cake ahead of time to be sure you get one.

It's really up to the individual places to do whatever (if anythign) for a birthday or other special occassion. There's not that much at the actual resort. Not to disappoint you but it's kind of up to you as to how much you want your girls to be "recognized". Some people don't like the attention (including me). But other people really get into it.

As for your travel agent, I don't think she's ever really heard of an "unbirthday". Besides, how many people really celebrate their birthday on the true day?

We were at Coral Reef for my son's actual bday in 2006. They didn't do much there. The next day we were at 1900 Park Fare and they were great. They sang, he got a big cupcake and a placemate to take home. Just pick a restaurant that caters more to kids or is more upbeat like Whispering Canyons. They do fun stuff for bdays there too. They don't have to know it is not the actual day...I don't think they care anyway.

I am so excited to go. I didn't really want a cake; we eat so much on the dining plan we could never handle a cake! And I think we'll do the birthday pins too. I was just surprised my TA didn't even mention it to the booking agent because it's not the exact day. I use AAA to get the package discount, so I don't regret using her, I was just surprised.
DD#1, especially, wanted to just do a lay-on-the-beach trip, and I had agreed to that since this is the first spring break we have had together in many years, but I decided to to WDW instead--which is why we are planning two water park days, so she can "lay out" a little.

Last year my birthday was the day before we went to WDW. I have a younger brother who has Down's Syndrome. My birthday was much more important to him than it was to me(I'm 48) I wore the pin and he was constantly reminding CM's it was my birthday. I have to admit, it was nice being wished "Happy Birthday" at WDW by so many. CRT gave me a cupcake with a candle. I do believe you can have a birthday party set up for your daughters. It would be a memorable experience!
