I have two nights that I reserved on Hotwire for Caribe Royale first weekend in August.

I was pretty happy with price...total with taxes and fees for both nights was $218.00 for a one bedroom suite. 4 star resort. We are a family of 5.

Much to my surprise, my in-laws said we could use their timeshare for the whole week for a small transfer fee! So we are estatic about that since we love that resort too. However, Hotwire is non refundable or transferable according to their website.

I hate the thought of wasting the $200 plus dollars! Any ideas? We could just use the hotel for their pool/slide (ours has a nice heated pool but no slide).

I thought of calling Hotwire and seeing if they offer credit for another booking (after our timeshare week), but from what I have read, it will be declined. It just seems like such a waste!!!

The trip insurance Hotwire offers only covers emergencies. I think at this point it looks like we are out of luck...live and learn :headache:

Call the hotel itself and see if they will move your dates.

I will try that...I would think if possible they would, so they could then book the room to someone else...I'm going to give it a try just to see. Thanks!

please let us know how you make out with your request.

Does the timeshare use a points system? If so it's usually very flexible. Can you use the 2 nts HW hotel then switch to the timeshare? It could extend your vacation by 2 nts.

If not, consider it a lesson learned. I use HW for pre-cruise hotel stays knowing full well that the good price is in exchange for it being non refundable. That's a chance you take.

In general, you are stuck. Back in the day, I was able to *transfer* a hotwire reservation to someone else. You might be able to do that.

I spoke with the Reservation Specialist at Caribe, and she is unable to change anything.

I am going to offer both nights to my MIL in case she wants to stay the second night I had booked, which is one night after her Ft Lauderdale timeshare ends. Of course she may rather stay with us in our resort instead, but I'll leave it up to her. I could check in since my name is on reservation and then they could stay the night.

Did you try calling Hotwire and asking? Sometimes they are more flexible than you think. Priceline says they do not do refunds but we called them one time when our kids were sick and we couldn't go on a trip--called them the DAY OF our reservation--and they were very nice about it and refunded it.

I think you should try one more time as per Nilseks saying, may be they will change their Priceline and refund you. Just try your luck!
