Finally have now booked two rooms for the end of July at Sequoia Lodge with DVC points. Going with our friends.

Had to pay for length of stay passess and $90 booking fee, but feels great to have booked as was phoning every night waiting the dates to be released.

If you don't mind me asking - how much did the LOS passes cost? :)

It was approximately a ridiculous $179 per person for seven persons (possibly younger children a bit less) for four days. Not sure exactly but when I worked it out on the exchange rate it was more than the website. I can't make it out to USA for until DD leaves school in two years 2010, due to school holidays and leave at work and would never go at August again. I just could not face renting out any more points. I am already renting out to three different people. It seemed to me best value to go during the summer holidays as you can't get any deals so worth it for points. It was the only time I could get off and as it corresponded with my friends birthday just went for it. May half term was all sold out.

Used points a few years ago to stay at New York but it did include tickets and breakfast. I am pretty sure DVC do not want to make it easy to use points for other options.

I was hoping for a med cruise for 2009, but you can't have everything!

I've just had a look at the ticket prices given on dlrpmagic and an adult 4 day hopper is currently €152/£104. So I don't think you have paid a ridiculous amount for them, if it's any consolation. :goodvibes

Thank you for giving me an idea of what to expect - I can do some calculations now! I too will have points to use up in the next couple of years, and I think this will be an easier option than renting.

Sue, Becky using DVC for DLP is an often asked question. Would be good if you could share any experiences on the DLP as this would surely help others in their trip planning :goodvibes

We have used dvc points to book DLP.

We found it easy to book CM were good as usual.

However on the downside we found that using points to go to DLP was expensive, we used 196 points (i think it was ) not far off 200 to go for 4 nights.

DH stated and he was correct (as usual lol :happytv: )
for 200 point we could have a fotnight in WDW.

You get a standard room.

We have decided to make a real break of it and will stay the Thursday night in Dover and the Monday night in Calais. Its the beginning of the school holidays and both of our families are having our main holiday at the end of August so why not, that way we can get best value for the four day pass if that makes sense!!

thanks for sharing
was thinking about using our points but think we use them for a one bedroom instead of a studio this year

i am local to dover and if your thereon a thursday night could i make a couple of recomendations dont stay at the marine court part of the sleep inn chain although it sits on townwall street (A20) just outside the docks it tends to have ques of lorries out side of it waiting to enter the docks especially if the is problems with the french or the tunnel the travel in on the duke of yorks round about (A2) is a quieter location although next to a petrol station both have brewers fayres attached ok but not great or the plough a travel lodge (i think) with a beefeater attached is the quietest of the three motel type offerings in the town just outside the town in countryside near capel leferne. If your looking for something local i have heard good things at blakes of dover who do b and b which i have no experience but i have tried the good beer and good food.
i hope you have a great holiday i know you hadnt asked for any advice but thought a bit of local knowledge wouldnt go a miss.

Thanks for your advice. We have stayed at the Travel in by the ferry terminal loads of times and love it. It is very good value, especially for our friends with two children and really enjoy eating at the restaurant

Here is our sea view from our bedroom window from last year's visit to Bruges

Thanks for taking the time and thinking of us
