Booked cat 10 with obstucted view..Do you get upgraded from there?

Booked the deck 5 cat 10 cabins but wondering if anyone has gotten a free upgrade from there. Thinking Disney might think I am set on those rooms. Any thoughts?

The people who book the "secret porthole" cabins usually do so intentionally, and they are much sought after. If you don't want it, then I would choose a different cabin and free-up yours so someone else can book it.

Unlikely as you have book a specific room and have already been "upgraded" from a cat 10 to an 8. So to get a veranda you would have to be upgraded from a cat 10 to a cat 6 ( big jump)
We had 5520 this Jan. Awesome "free upgrade" the view is barely obstructed we loved it.

Back in December 2008, I was upgraded from a SPR CAT 10 to a CAT 7 without any phone call. I found out when I looked at our luggage tags. I guess anything is possible.

The Cat 7's only sleep 3 so I'm guessing you must not have had 4 people? Which SPH room did you have booked? Was it one of the connecting ones? My guess would be that they moved you up in order to fit a family of 4 in one of the SPH rooms. There might have been a larger family that booked a Cat 10 or 11 GTY so you benefited from that.

We also usually try to book SPH rooms but I am of the belief that they don't receive upgrades as often as I also think DCL knows people book them on purpose. I would be shocked to receive an upgrade from "our" SPH cabin.

OP - you wrote in the plural tense. Did you book 2 of the the connecting ones? I think it's harder to get 2 connecting cabins upgraded together.

We were upgraded to a Cat10 from a Cat12 for the Med in 07 and thoroughly liked the room. Granted the view was somewhat obstructed but at least there was a view. We have had two Cat4's and a Cat 6. While we loved the balconies but the Cat 10 was great as we weren't in the room all that much anyway. We also like being on Deck 5. Enjoy!

Yes, you can be upgraded from the cat 10 "secret port hole" rooms. If you do not wish to be upgraded, have them add a note to your reservation that says so.

You have not "already" been upgraded--the rooms sell as a cat 10 because they do NOT have the full view of a cat 8 You have a cat 10; it is just a little different than most cat 10s. You can be upgraded to a balcony with proper pixie dust!
