We've booked to go during October half term and I've just been reading about how it's one of the busiest weeks of the year. We usually go in November during mid-week and never have to queue for rides, but now dd has started school we're tied to school holidays.

I'm worried that we're not going to spend much time together as we have an 8 month old baby so one of us will end up queuing for rides with dd whilst the other just sits around with the baby. We will use fast passes as much as possible but big crowds at theme parks are my worst nightmare.

Can someone please reassure me. Thanks

Hi Stacey

Which dates are you actually going? We are going 21st-25th october and I know it will be busy, but hopefully we will be leaving just before it gets swamped.
I think half the battle with the parks is to be prepared for crowds. Make sure you make the most of EMH, try and lunch early to miss the worst queues, book your restaurants in advance and make the most of fastpass and baby swap. At least during the last two weeks of october the parks are open longer hours and from the 18th onwards, no closures at all:goodvibes which should help spread the crowds a bit.

We love Disney at halloween, it is our favourite time of year to go, I'm sure you will have a fab time:goodvibes

we're going 27th-30th October. We're trying to decide where to eat and if it's worth risking to book when we get there. The day we arrive the park is open until 11pm and it's also when the clocks change so will feel even later than that.

We've paid quite a lot of money for this trip and I just don't want DH to be a grumpy old man as I've been desperate to go back for so long.

With those dates I would definately book my meals in advance. The last thing you need is a grumpy DH and 2 hungry kids, going from one restaurant to the next only to find everything fully booked. You can always cancel your reservations if you change your mind when there, but at least you have a plan and something booked.
Which hotel are you staying at? you could always go back in the afternoon when it seems to be the most busy and swim, or just relax for a few hours before heading back early evening.

Our half term is the week before you go so not all UK schools are off the same time. We've been before at October half term and managed the crowds ok. It is all about pacing yourself and making the most of the fast passes etc. try the more popular rides whilst the parades are on too. You'll love it I would love to go back at that time of year again.

Thanks everyone. I'm not a rush around type of person & like to just take things as they come, as long as we get to do everything at least once ill be happy.

We're staying in HNY so quite easy to go back to for a break, although we've been known to find a bench in the central hub area & have a sit down for an hour.

I'm really tempted to book inventions.....
