Booked at Feb 23rd trip. Not sure how to pack.

Hi,

Usually my wife and I go to Disney in September. What a bust last year with the hurricane in NC. I had to cut my trip in half and go home. This year I really need to get away so I booked a week at the BWI on Feb 23rd.

Is anyone familiar with the weather in late February? I am hoping for less rain. Not sure about swimming either or what type of clothes to bring.

There's just no way to tell this far in advance. Central FL weather is notoriously unpredictable at any time of year, but especially in winter you can get wild temperature swings.

We’re going to be there the week before you (we are leaving Florida on the 24th). We were there the same week last year, which supposedly was a mild year. Regardless, it is much less humid than summer. Days are mild- shorts are fine but we are packing pants in case its cooler than last year. We swam in a heated pool once on our trip during the day, but the weather didn’t scream “let’s go swimming”. If you like to swim and the weather is mild like last year, you will likely get the chance to swim, but its not hot hot and we actually were shivering when we sat near the pool afterward, so planning a whole pool day is probably not something to count on. I’m not sure this is helpful, but we found the weather to be delightful. Sunny and perfect to sit and walk outside. We weren’t worn out and sweating in the summer heat. I don’t remember it raining at all. But, again, our family remarked how lucky we were that the weather was so nice. This year, we’re hoping the weather is as nice, but not expecting it. We’re brining shorts and light tops, but also some pants and long sleeves, rain coat and sweatshirt- just in case. My wife and I go down to WDW every year on the last week of February. The weather is perfect for us. Usually 78-84 for a high and it drops to 60-65 at night. Humidity is low and we have only had rain one day out of the last 9 trips and it let up around 5 in the evening. We go swimming every afternoon and bring a light jacket for the evenings. We will be there in 50 days and can't wait.

Exactly. I was at DHS one year when it was colder than Boston - and Boston had a pending blizzeard!

I live about an hour and a half from Disney, and in my opinion the likelihood of experiencing awesome park-touring weather doesn't get any better than late February/early March. It could be chilly at night and there's always the chance it could be downright cold, but literally FREEZING weather is highly unlikely, and you have about a zero chance of the soul-sucking heat and humidity that pervade most of the year.

We’re flying on Feb. 25th. From what friends of ours that live about 20 mins from WDW say, the weather should be “perfect”. They told us that it is generally high 70’s to low 80’s during the day and the 60’s in the evenings.

While we normally go around the second week of November, we did go in late March a few years ago and it was quite warm. We’re trying a little earlier this time to see if we can shave a few degrees off.

Thanks everyone. I'm really looking forward to doing the parks when it isn't 1000 degrees outside. Even though swimming may not be an option I think the cooler weather this time is worth it. I remember one time we left my in-laws who lived in FL and decided to spend one night at Disney in Feb. It rained the entire day. We still had fun! Hoping for nice sunny days. This would be the first time that I will pack long pants and a jacket.

All the weather websites are your friend, The Weather Channel, Accuweather, WeatherNation, etc. You can even check the local Television stations (WESH) and you should be able to get a decent picture of what the weather is going to be Do this a few days before you leave.

We'll be there that week also! We were there last February as well, the early mornings and evenings were pretty cool, it was pretty warm during the daytime. There was quite a swing in temperature, layers were key. Not every day was swimming weather but we did make it to both the resort pool and Blizzard Beach.

Packing is the worse for winter trips.
You better pack everything from swim suite to sweatshirts. Even if the forecast when you leave shows 1 thing, it can change after you arrive. The south is notorious for forecasts changing drastically at this time of year. It can say it will be 60 in 4 day but in 3 days change to show 40.
We never go on a trip outside of the summer without layer outfits. Long sleeves to go under any t-shirts we bring and leggings to go under skirts/shorts. Or instead of them.
