We have a family vacation to Disney World December 2020....We have booked at Boardwalk Inn, one reason we have never been to this Hotel...My question is, My wife and I are both in our 70's and both use scootors to get around the Parks and keep up with the Kids....Should we encounter any problems with the scootors getting to the Disney Parks ?? Thanks the Aucoin's

You may get more specific advice if you post your question on the DISabilities forum where many people who use scooters can help you with very specific info about getting around. Just a general answer, from Boardwalk, you will be able to use your scooter to go directly to EP or DHS as there are walking paths to both. You can also use the Friendship boats to get to both of those parks and you can use the Skyliner to get to DHS. For MK and AK, you can take a bus which will accommodate scooters There are many, many guests navigating WDW, successfully, with scooters every day!

The only issue (and I hesitate to call it that) with using an ECV at BWI is the trip will take 2 elevators, unless you get a room on the 2nd floor.
BWI has a unique layout. You enter the lobby on the 2nd floor. The Boardwalk itself is off the first floor. But, the elevator that goes to the rooms does not access the Boardwalk level. There is 1 elevator that accesses that level and it goes no where but between the 2nd floor off the lobby and the Boardwalk level. Rooms are accessed with a different elevator. Some people find this inconvenient.

We love the BWI and BWV!

We like staying at both and have seen scooters in the hallway in both sections.

As the above poster states there are two elevators to get to the Boardwalk. The location is fabulous! You will love being so close to EPCOT and DS.

My mom uses a scooter and my son uses a wheelchair. Between trips with them, we’ve stayed at BWI three times in the past two years with someone using a mobility device. Once we were on the second floor, and twice on upper floors.

Regarding the elevator situation, we didn’t find it to be much of a hassle at all to use two elevators. The elevators to the rooms are large and efficient. They are big enough for two scooters with a little maneuvering. There are three of them which serve only five floors, so one arrives very quickly after you press the button. There is only one elevator to the Boardwalk itself, so at very busy times you may have to wait for the next elevator. However, since it only travels one floor, the wait is short. It would be great if they could install a second elevator to the Boardwalk, as it is needed by everyone using a stroller or mobility device. It’s hardy a deal breaker though.

Your larger issue may be that many buses have capacity for only two scooters. If someone else using a scooter or wheelchair is at the stop ahead of you, you may need to wait for another bus to travel together. Or if your bus is already in the stop and loading when you arrive, you will have to wait for the next bus to be able to board. (By bad luck, this happened to use *every single time* last trip, it became our “theme” lol.). This issue is not unique to the Boardwalk though - it happens at all the resorts and parks. Just be aware, be early if possible, and be patient. Many times the driver will call and expedite another bus for you If they can’t load you.

Mom and I already have our next trip planned, staying at BWI in December. Maybe we will see you there! We love the convenience and the location. Being able to walk/scooter to two parks can’t be beat. You will have a great time!
