Booked another trip :) update post #21

Booked the hotel tonight.
Staying here http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...Express_Lake_Buena_Vista-Orlando_Florida.html

Just wanted somewhere cheap and cheerful, includes breakfast, wireless internet, fridge, microwave, nice pool (if warm enough in Feb) & gets good reviews £34/night after cashback.

Also bought House of Blues $50 voucher of Restaurants.com $20 less 80% code = $4 or £2.56. Hope its as good as it looks, 1st time there.

You can't really go wrong with Holiday Inn can you?

Hope you enjoy your HoB meal. We loved it. Have you read some reviews on it? They are highly praised for good service as well as the food and we all know you need both to make a good meal. I'll be watching for it on your live trippie (if you do one). :)

Very jealous re your great HoB deal! Hoping to eat there next trip, if I can get a good enough deal from restaurant.com - have just signed up. Do you get the vouchers emailed to you when you purchase them? :thumbsup2

Good news Wayne :thumbsup2
You will have to report back on St Aug. since we didn't quite make it in August. :rotfl2:
Is there any shuttle activity in February?

Please could you tell me how exactly this works. HAve looked at restaurants.com before. Do you get a voucher that you print and then take to the restaurant. It talks about 18% gratuity. do you pay that in cas or does it get taken off the voucher. i.e if you spend $40 in the restaurant, would they add the 18% on there. This would still be under the $50 or do you have to pay the gratuity as extra. Sounds like a good deal even without the 80% off code.
Thanks

Have a look and see if still available. They sent an email confirmation with link to print the voucher.

I believe the last shuttle is going in the near future. Would be great to see the last one but seen 3 launches so can't complain.

Lee might be better explaining as I have never used one.
Each restaurant gives its own conditions. For me to use the HoB one I have to spend $100 (expecting over that with 4 of us) I believe 18% tip is added based on the full value of the bill, if service is good I have no problem with that and tip is not included in the minimum spend.
I got the code from here.
http://www.travelzoo.com/entertainment/more/919569/
Use Zip code for DTD to get local offers (32830)

For HoB they still have 2 on offer as I type this:
$25 off for $35+ spend cost $10 ($2 after 80% code)
$50 off for $100+ spend cost $20 ($4 after 80% code)
"18% Gratuity added prior to discount. Cannot be use for Gospel Brunch, on Holidays or Special Events"

We used the $25 off HOB coupon without any hassle on 29th october.

Think I paid $2 for it. I know I paid for it with paypal and used hotel address - you print the voucher off.

I had an 'elwood' chicken sandwich with fries, DD had a childs pizza, DH a philly cheesestaek. All were good especially DD's pizza. My fries were very salty, would probaly avoid the fries next time. With 3 cokes we paid just over $20 including tip on top of the voucher.

The server was very happy to take it as if you use the voucher it automatically adds a 18% tip.

Between 3-5 it was happy hour and drinks were very reasonably priced then.

I do have some pics i'll try to post asap.

Each restaurant will handle the voucher differently and terms and conditions may vary. You cannot use a voucher at the same restaurant more than one time in a month. I am unclear as to whether that is a 30 day period or a calendar month, but I am sure we could find that out. It was irrelevant to me so I didn't check, although our next trip crossed over two calendar months so it may be worth a look.

When I get home tonight I will look for the receipt and try post a picture of it so you can see.

Be aware that at HoB they add the gratuity regardless of how many are in your party and if you don't know to look for it, you could tip twice. I did, but it was intentional as the food and service was excellent, but I can imagine someone spending $100 not being so keen to tip $40. ;)

well done Wayne...we like that Holiday Inn Express and the location is A+, nice pool area too and breakfast isn't bad either.

I did a review of HoB over on the dark side...good food and service, when using the restaurant.com vouchers the gratuity is added and then the coupon amount deducted, so don't tip twice.

We like the HoB...tried 3 now, DTD, Vegas and Anaheim...best tip is to arrive at 3pm for the happy hour as the drinks (even soda or milkshake) are pricey..if you don't reach the min spend they will box up a dessert or entree so that you hit the $100 total (we struggled as the kids shared an adult appetiser pizza to make it up to the correct figure in Anaheim).

Lots of good deals on restaurant.com, always a 80 or 90% code about...use paypal and florida zip code...one voucher per restaurant per month...we used one at Hob LAS VEGAS and HoB anaheim in the same week in Oct without issue..

I'd recommend BBKings, Il Mulino, Shulas, Outback at Buena Vista Hotel, lots more too.

We don't usually eat dinner until 7-8pm but will think about it.

Doubt we will struggle to spend $100, I expect our 4 entrees to be $85 going on menu I looked at.:goodvibes

Cheers Wayne for the HoB Restaurant.com top tip ........... just booked my voucher for July!!!!! Now thinking what I can book for New York. :worship:

Best car hire I have found for Feb is Netflights.com/Thrifty with 5% Quidco. For August they havn't all released prices yet. No bargains yet though.

Got a good price for Meet & Greet at MAN in Feb, 9 days parking £30 thru Park & Go/Quidco. 7% disc code & 5% cashback http://www.quidco.com/park-go/?ac

You are so lucky, wish I was going to Florida next year.

We're now cruising the med on the Magic instead, with 1 night in Barcelona pre-cruise, so that my H (notice no D) can paint the blinkin house during his week off work! At least I'll get some Disney magic on the ship. I'm looking forward to it, as we've never cruised before.

If I wasn't going to Florida then a Disney Med cruise would definitely be a good alternative. I am sure you will love it.
Hope your H earns his D back soon:rotfl2:

Sorry to sound dense, and hijack your thread Wayne, but I am now trying to sign up for the restaurant.com website. It is asking for my credit card billing address, and it will only accept a US address. What do I put in?

I used Paypal but still had to enter an address, I just used our hotel address.
