I booked a value studio at AKV for June 5-8, 2008 in anticipation of Star Wars Weekend next year. 47 points total for Thu-Fri-Sat seems too good to be true!

When I asked for a studio, the CM said they had SV and standard avaialble. Then I asked do you have any value studios and she put me on hold and came back a minute later and said they had a value available. I know some of the values have pool views and other savanna views. Should I call back and request a savanna view? Would it matter?

you can try!!!

Congratulations! Although for Star Wars weekend might have picked BW standard view.

I guess it depends on which is more important to you, the view or the point savings. I would think you would have your choice of whatever room category you wanted this far out.

Did you ask about Concierge availability? We are going in a month (1BR SV) and again in March (Concierge Studio), but may try for a June '08 trip also to get maximum use out of our AP. I may try to book Concierge for June now just in case we find that after our March trip we can't live without it :)

All I can book right now this far out in AKV although I wouldn't mind staying closer to MGM for SWW. I'm just trying to save some points for a bigger trip in '09 and these value rooms seem like a great way to do it.

No, I didn't ask about concierge for this trip but I'm thinking that its probably available too. I've got a studio concierge for 2 night and then a 1br concierge for 3 nights in April of '08. I'm also hopingthat I don't love concierge so much that I'll miss it when I return two months later.

Congratualtions on your AKV reservation!!

We are staying in a value studio for the first night of our stay on Saturday and then we will be moving to a concierge studio for the rest of our stay!!

I am so excited, especially since I've never booked at the 11 month window before!! :cool1:

I did try but when I called back , the CM said they cannot place room reuqests of any kind on value rooms.

When I booked an AKV value studio for June 1 - 8, 2008, I requested savanna view and wasn't told I could not place room requests in value rooms. I guess I will see when I get my confirmation letter.:confused3

What is different with the value studio?

50 sq. ft. smaller rooms. Value rooms are 315 sq. ft., regular studios are listed at 366 sq.ft. In comparison, All Star value resort rooms are 260 sq.ft. Also any view is possible, pool, parking, savanna.

Weren't Star Was weekends in May until this year? What if they move them again?

I had heard that they were only in June this year because of the 30th anniversary. There were a lot of activities in other places this May. I thought I had been told that it would move back to May.

It would be nice if it moved to May because it was a ZOO this year. We've done SWW forever, and I've never seen anything like the crowds in June. We were even there for 3 different "weekends" - Sunday, then Friday, then Friday - and they were all just awfully crowded.

Thanks for the info. Where is the reduction in space located?

I looked back at previous years for the dates that SWW was held. And, with the exception of this year and I think one other, the first weekend in June seems like a good bet to have SWW. Of course, the last 2 weeks in May are more of a sure thing. If I have to, I'll change my ressie once they announce the actual SWW dates for 2008 (provided I haven't purchased my plane tix yet!).

Yup - the first of June is usually the last week of SWW - and it's been a very good time to go. This year, with it being opening weekend, it was not so good. Hopefully it will be a better schedule next year.
