Booked AKL CL! Please tell me all about it?

I booked AKL CL on Monday for our mid Oct trip! We are reallly excited, but have some questions?? First, I was wondering how long before we would be contacted by the planning staff? I would love to try to book the Sunrise Safari, but I know we may be to late to do this! Also, I made the request for Savanna view and was wondering what my odds of getting this will be? Also, any suggestions for other room requests (we would love bunkbeds)? I was also wondering what type of things they have available at breakfast?? We would love to hear all your great tips, ideas, or suggestions for our stay! Thanks!

We were at AKL CL in July. We really enjoyed it!

I did find however, that I wasn't ever contacted by the staff, so I initiated contact myself. I would call them about the sunrise safari right away. We did that during our stay and really had a good time (the breakfast alone was worth the price!)

I think your odds of getting a savannah view are pretty good. We booked in April for July and received our request of savannah view.

The breakfast is pretty standard continental breakfast fare. Cereal, oatmeal, fruit, oatmeal, danish assortment, juices, etc....

We were out of the room a lot but used concierge for breakfast everyday. Also, because it was July we returned in the afternoon for a swim and to chill out. We stopped in for the afternoon snacks. They offer an African smoothie which is really delicious and hit the spot after a hot day.

Overall, CL or standard AKL is really beautiful and relaxing. It is kind of far from everything (except AK) but in some ways its an advantage because the buses leaving the parks are usually dedicated to AKL so they're never very full. We always got a seat.

I am going in December and I contacted them in May with my requests.

I got a 48 hour response with my Itinerary.

they have already booked Mickey's Christmas party for me and the Candlelight procession. We have the sunrise safari also.

They have contacted me by phone twice. Most of the communication has been by e-mail.

When I made my reservations through my local TA, he called Disney direct and they asked me is I wanted a Savannah room.

We were in room 5417. It was actually a pretty good location since it was a savannah view but it also wasn't too far from either elevator bank in the Zebra trail. Made quick access to the pool, Boma, 6th floor concierge, etc...

Contact the concierge directly. They are wonderful and will help you with all your plans. I think you made the best decision. There are only a few concierge rooms that do not overlook the savannah and most of them are smoking rooms. The walk to the lounge is quite long from the savannah rooms but the lounge is very comfortable.

When we stayed there the concierge contacted me about 90 days before our stay. They can and do make hard to get reservations. I especially liked the check in process. When you check in at the hotel gate they must phone ahead because they are waiting for you when you get out of your car. They escort you directly up to your room where a copy of our itinerary is waiting. Then you can make your way up to the concierge desk at your leisure to officially check in, etc. Very nice.
