Hi All,

I have just rebooked! :cool1:

Just a cheeky one nighter to make up for being so ill during my trip this month and to allow me to re-new my annual passport.

I opted to stay in the Newport Bay as the DLH was so expensive, even just for a night. I am staying in the Sequoia in July and I've stayed in the others many times before. However, I am now wondering if the NPB was a mistake?!

The person who booked it for me over the phone said the pool and boutique and things re-opened last week but there would still be some building work at the front of the building, which is fine.

Have all rooms now been updated? I booked the admiral room but from what I have read it looks like the admiral floor hasn't been updated yet :( Would be kinda rubbish to have paid extra for an outdated room.

Anyone know the latest?

K.

i've just returned from there.... the boutique and swimming pools are still closed, they are giving their guests a 50euro voucher to shut them up.
i stayed on a level 4 room, room was refurbished BUT the smell of mold was horrendous!

Boo! This really isn't what I wanted to hear :( but isn't a million miles from what I feared.

Shocked I was told the pools/boutique had re-opened when they haven't...shame on Disney!!! :furious:

I guess I'm only staying one night...but its a lot to pay if it's a building site and smelly. I just need to live in hope that it would have improved by Feb.

Are the restaurants open?

I can put it with a lot but mold and the smell that goes with it especially in an enclosed space is not nice.

I'd be thinking about changing as mould is something that smells worse and grows during damp weather and the winter is ideal for that.

It's been raining most of today and the air is very damp for example, imagine another couple of months on.

There again it might just have been a one off and unfortunate for x_zipped_x who had a room like that.:confused3

Have you had a look at other comments about the hotel on TA for example ?Perso the NPB reminds me of the hotel in Shining :scared1: It's too big and spread out and must be nightmarish at breakfast time when busy

I'm avoiding the NPBC untill 2016 once the refurbishment is finished. I've moved my June booking from the NPBC to the Sequia Lodge because of the on going refurbishment works.

I've got a Compass Club room booked for Feb 2016, so can't wait to see what the hotel is like once all the building work has finished.

When I recently asked I was told the boutique and reception area should be re-opened in time for August and the Admirals floor is due to close this summer and will re-open in January 2016 as the Compass Club.

They seem to be catching up a bit now after all the delays they experianced when one of the building companies working on the outside of the hotel went bust, and a replacement had to be found.

Thanks everyone, all of this is very helpful.

I may very well look at moving the booking, although most of the recent reviews (Nov stays) on TA aren't so bad, so maybe I should be open minded.

Just thought I'd add my experience of this -

We stayed at NPB a couple of weeks ago and had an absolutely lovely time.
It's a shame the boutique is closed, but on the bright side it mainly stocks things that are in all of the other shops in the parks anyway so you aren't really missing out on much.

The hotel looks so lovely at the moment all decorated for xmas (when are you staying?)

I thought breakfast was wonderful too, lots on offer and the restaurant is a really nice spacious area.

Also I have never had any experience with mould there, so don't worry too much about that, it may have just been a one off. The rooms are slightly dated, but certainly still nice. When I went a couple of weeks ago we were upgraded so can't comment on the normal rooms this year but we went last year in an ordinary room and everything was fine, no mould or anything!

I'm even going back to stay there in just over a week, so I suppose it's clear how much we love the hotel.

But honestly try not to worry, you're only staying there for one night and it honestly is a truly lovely hotel in my opinion. :cloud9:

All,

Thanks for your thoughts, I have decided to stay put in the NPB as I have never stayed there before and it's only 1 night afterall!

There does seem to be quite divided opinion on the state of the hotel right now both here and on tripadvisor but I've always prided myself in making up my own mind about places even if they have poor reviews, so I will continue as planned.

Great to hear some counter arguements on this feed from people who clearly love the hotel.

I love all things Disney and it'll all be new to me, so I'm hoping it still produces some of that magic I am soooo addicted to :rotfl2:

Thanks to all for your inputs.
