I couldn't take it anymore..... I had to book another trip:goodvibes Now I just need to tell my husband!! We had such a great time last September but our oldest DD will start school in the fall so I had to pick another time. I chose the last full week in August......am I crazy? Will it be hot and crowded? Booked a 1 bdr LV at BLT.....we stayed in a studio last time, and it will be the last time  but we loved the lake view.

Have signed up for the give a day program, got 200 rewards for signing up for the Disney Visa.....looks like it will be a great trip!!!

Now I betcha Dh will want to go to Spain in August to visit his family.....better not be the same week I picked!

Our first DVC stay was in mid Aug. of 07 we survived. We even booked trips the following two July's. :rotfl: We prefer Jan. and Nov. but we have no problems doing summer trips. It gets hot here in MD too...so why not be HOT in FL. ;)

we went the first week in september in 09 and that is only a week later than you choose. Let me say I HATE HATE HATE the heat....I love candian winters and I didn't mind the heat at wdw at all. it was kinda nice getting into a really warm pool rather than a cool pool.

So far, the last full week in August has been my favorite time to go. (We have gone mid August x2, late July, and the last week of August.) It will be hot, but we did not find the parks crowded at all. I will also say that the heat wasn't unbearable during the last week of August like it was during the last week of July.

Yup..it's hot but not so bad that it's unbearable!

Have Fun!

Sorry to step on your not so hot, I live in Florida and August is very unbearable. 100 is average temp for the month. Most schools out and very crowed, sorry. Florida starts to cool down around October. :confused3

We've been there twice for the last week of August/first week of September and NEVER AGAIN!!! Unfortunately, that's when my birthday and our anniversary is, but we will NOT be going at the time again. Between the heat, humidity and rain, it was a disaster! Crowds weren't bad though!

Yikes!! Now I am worried about the weather....we were there this past September right after Labor Day and I thought the temp was rather mild!? hmmmmm... wouldn't it be just at hot in July and more crowded? And I thought some schools down south were back in session in mid August, therefore the crowds being at tolerable level.

Oh and I did tell DH, about a half hour ago about the dates I booked and he didn't seem to mind! :)

You'll get a lot of conflicting opinions on this, but your DD is still so young and she won't miss much in the earlier grades--if you are iffy about August, I say just take her out of school in October. At that point she'll be integrated into the class, but she still won't miss much. I took my DD10 out again this year. I don't know how long I can get away with it, but as long as she does well in school, I'll take her out for vacations (not just Disney).

I know this doesn't directly answer your question, but I wanted to offer another POV.

I always go the last week of august and have been for years. It is hot but we always take an afternoon break and go swimming. It isn't that bad.

when our kidlets were too old to be taken out of school, we would go every year during the last week of august.
it's hot, but we found late june thru mid-august way too hot & humid, while that last august week bearable. crowds are lower than the preceding weeks also.
(actually, i'm always cold and actually loved it; dh who is always hot, was at least able to tolerate the temps). we found the daily 30 minute downpour, around 4pm, easy to plan around (carry ponchos, btw...it will rain!).
some tips:
- carry frozen water bottles to drink
- apply - and bring additional to reapply - sunscreen
- take a mid-day break at the pool. avoid the higher crowds during that time
- go into the shops/eatieries or on air-conditioned rides as needed
- bring a wet washcloth with a few ice cubes in a zip-lock (wipe face and/or place on neck for a quick cool down)
- make some plans for out of the parks activities

there is the possibility of hurricanes. we've been in wdw through a few, and just planned accordingly - do not expect to get everything done and the stress of losing a few hours or even a full day will disappear :) . have alternate activities, just in case...

take it slow...tempers tend to flare in the heat, so take measures to stay cool and hydrated.

we'll be there around that time again this year.....i'm looking foward to it

Low crowds, most of the schools are back in session, it's hot, but who cares?
I love the last week of Auguist, it's a great time to go!

Hi LisaRN97,
It just wanted to wish you a great time on your trip. I hope telling your husband went well. :wizard: In regards to the weather it is hard to say. I have lived in Orlando my whole life and late August can be tricky. It can be mild or hot. Either way your at Disney so as others have said it is better to be hot at Disney!:thumbsup2
