If I were to purchase say 50pts @ VWL, could I book using those 50pts(@VWL) and then reserve the rest of my stay using cash and then at the 7 month mark cancel the cash nights and use my SSR points. Susan

I guess you could do that but unless it is a popular week you could probably always book the cash nights closer to the date.

Yes - subject to availability.

If your goal in reserving the rest of your stay using cash is to hold space that can be converted from cash to points, then the answer is no. Cash nights cannot be converted because cash nights and DVC member nights are two different inventories.

If your goal in reserving the rest of your stay using cash is to have a fall-back if there's no DVC inventory at VWL at the 7-month mark, then the answer is yes.

I would be a little bit careful here.. I think the replies you received are correct... based on what you asked... vs what you want to accomplish.

You stated you want to cancel your reservation and re-book it with SSR points... and the response was "yes subject to availability".

If I understand what you are really asking though... is to convert your existing reservation from cash to SSR points... in which case... you cannot do that if I understand the booking rules properly.

In other words... you can only book those nights using your SSR points providing there is availability independent from the cash reservation that you are holding.

Horace and I seemed to reply (and essentially say the same thing) at the same time.

And we all agree with both of you!

Your answers were better than mine and you were right. Answer depends on what the OP intends to accomplish.

Best wishes-

Yep, I was wanting to convert the cash night's to(from SSR) points after the 7 month mark. Thanks for your answer's. Maybe I'll look into a larger point resale for VWL, then I won't have to worry about availability at the 7 month(beginning of Dec.) mark. Thank's Susan

Just thought of something, I'm not sure how often you intend to stay at VWL vs. SSR. Some people bank and borrow on that particular contract, so that they have either 100(for a stay every other year)or 150 (for a stay every third year). You can always book at SSR and then try to change at the 7 month window, or book what you can of the weeknights at VWL ,then book the weekends at the 7 month window(Generally easier to book). It will just depend on what time of year we are talking about. I think the other folks have anwered your cash questions, so I'll leave that to people who have more experience.
