I am looking for suggestions for interesting books on historical figures. Just feel like reading something I could actually learn from for a change :teeth: Would love to hear anyone's suggestions on books they found interesting!

I love reading non-fiction books. I like biographies, but I'm really into books that delve into whole historical eras or events. I'm a little late on the draw, but I'm reading Roots right now. The book is ALOT more detailed than the movie and EVERY page is riveting. I know that alot of it is fiction based on the history of Alex Haley's family - but that's historical enough for me. I have already been moved to tears a few times reading this thing.

If you've never read it, I really recommend it.

I really enjoyed the John Adams biography that came out about a year or two ago. Will see if I can find the author for you. It really covered some many historical figures that he interacted with and a great deal of colonial/revolutionary history. Plus it is a love story.

For one of my classes this semester, we read the Autobiography of Ben Franklin. It was pretty interesting. Talks about how he made a life plan and his virtues and such.

Thanks everyone - these are just what I had in mind! :)
