Book Suggestions anyone?

I don't really like to read much, but sometimes I get in the mood for a good book. Not really into romance novels, I like things like "Flowers In The Attic", thriller type books. Anyone read any lately that might be recommended by those who aren't big into reading?

Might I also add, that the last books I read front to back was "HTML 4", "MySQL" and "PHP for beginners" Closet geek at your service!

What is YOUR favorite book and why?

I love to read, especially books that have sequals. Some of my favorites are Sue Graftons series...A is for Alibi, B is for Burglar, C is for Corpse....etc, she is already up to the letter R. I also like Janet Evanovich's series..One for the Money....Two for the Dough....Three To Get Deadly.....etc, she is up to book 10. I am also a romance reader and like Debbie Macomber, Sandra Brown, Danielle Steel, Luanne Rice, and Nora Roberts to name a few. If you like books that have some religion to them I recommend Francine Rivers, she is an awesome author. Have you read the DaVinci Code, that was interesting as well. As you can see I like a wide range of books and could probably go on and on listing what I like. Hope this helps.

It is hard for me to read things and keep my attention to it, so anything that is thrilling, or exciting, although, I do read Sylvia Brown stuff, love the psychic world. My favorite author of all time though is V.C. Andrews!!! All her books have sequels, and I have most of the older collections.

I recently read Skinny Dip by Carl Hiaasen and it was a fun. humourous read.

I just finished a very easy to read, suspense book by Wendi Corsi Staub. It was called "Kiss Her Goodbye". Very good - a real page turner. And not heavy or hard to follow. She's a great suspense, mystery author.

I like James Patterson for mysteries. My favorite of his is "Kiss the Girls" (also was made into a movie, but the book was much better IMO). Most of his books are very good, his last I read was "The Beach House".

I agree, Skinny Dip was a pretty fun read.

Have you read the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich? They're very funny, and quick reads too. They all have numbers in their names... I think the first is "One for the Money" or something like that.

I haven't read Janet Evenovich, but I'll have to look for them.

OP - A couple of additional authors to look for if you really like thrillers are Tess Gerritsen (she has lots of sequels) and Iris Johansen. Both of them write CSI-type books. Johansen has several novels featuring a character who is a forensic sculptor. Gerritsen's heroines are usually police detectives or pathologists.

I just thought of a great book to read !!! "Skipping Christmas" by
John Grisham.... I read the book quite a while ago and read hundreds since then, but that one sticks out in my mind, it was funny, different and very entertaining !!!

If you like mystery and/or cats, Lillian Jackson Braun writes some real great books called the "Cat Who..." mysteries. They involve a small odd town, a great cast of characters and a real easy to read mystery of some sort. I read these when I want to relax.

The Art of Mending by Elizabeth Berg was the last book that I read that I couldn't put down. It's about mother-daughter reconciliation.

I just read "Digital Fortress" by Dan Brown (author of DaVinci Code) It's a thriller with a tech edge. I bet you'd like it.

If you want easy engrossing thrillers, definitely check out books by Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child.

i read that too. That was funny.

Lets see, I have also read by Jodi Picoult Plain Truth, Perfect Match and , My Sisters Keeper, Letter to Jennifer from Sam (different author), Angels and Demons, Pearl Diver (just started), Skinny Dip, Jane Austen Book Club, Nature Notebooks, Dante's Cure, The Conspiracy Club (Jonathan Kellerman), and a few others. (I read a book every two days)

I read Skipping Christmas too. I forgot about listing that one.

I listened to Lemony Snicket first book as well.

Jonathan Kellerman writes some fun medically based books. They are very interesting.

I also read Kazal's--Don't Say a Word, which was similiar to the movie. That was another medical thriller.

I just read Monday Mourning, which was a CSI-style based book aslo. It was set in Quebec, so there was a lot of French in the book.

I enjoy Debbie MacComber as well, and "Between Friends" was excellent. I also enjoyed the Left Behind series as well. Karen Kingsbury is a great Christian fiction author as is Frank Peretti.
Other authors I love are Maeve Binchey and LaVyrle Spencer.
I enjoyed Skipping Christmas too!
