I just priced package rates for value, mod and a couple deluxe (all rack rates) and then priced tix and room seperatly and it was less expensive to book seperatelywith our AAA discount. :confused3 I know sometimes they have discount codes but usually when we want to go there are never codes. Does this seem right? It would even be cheaper to book tix and rent points. Is it ever worth booking a package??

It depends on what your needs are.

If you want the dining - you can only get that with a package. If you book a room only, and a code is released for a package, you can always go ahead and convert you reservation to a package. Be careful in doing that though - any and ALL money you paid on your room only reservation would be refunded and you'd have to put down a new $200 deposit on the package.

Also, you can go to a AAA branch, and book a package there that will incorporate your AAA discount on the room portion of the package.

In my opinion - it's six of one half a dozen of the other until discount codes are released.

So I could book a room only, wait on buying tickets and if a discount code comes out for a package I can change it without a penalty? I don't mind about the $200 depsoit or having to pay it off 45 days out because I plan on saving and paying it off before we go anyway. (I like going with only having to worry about spending money) We are not big eaters, especially the kids so we probably won't do the dining plan. Only way we would do that is if they had another free dining offer. Also can you use Magical Express with a room only reservation?

Usually codes are released far enough in advance - BUT - if the codes were released 5 or fewer days prior to your check in, you would lose your deposit. I don't think that would happen though.

I know what you mean! :) One last caveat - but you seem ready for it - if a code is released fewer than 45 days from your arrival, your entire package total would be due at the time of booking.

No matter how you book, as long as you're staying at a Disney owned and operated resort, you have access to Magical Express. So yes - it would be available for room only reservations. :)

Thanks for your help! Every one used to make fun of me because I always talked about the "DIS" and how I read so much on here. But who came to me last week when they were getting ready to leave for Disney......yup those very people that made fun of me! Of course I could have given them much more info and had them make ADR's.....come one people give me some time to work with you! They thought they were going to get a castle dining reservation whenever they were hungry! :lmao: So of course they started frantically calling, don't know what they got but i'm sure they were limited. Well....maybe next time they won't laugh at me....they'll listen to me! :sad2:
