Book now or wait?

Tax return came today. Woohoo! We are planning a trip this November (around Thanksgiving week). Should I book the trip now or wait to see if a room discount comes out later? If I book now, can I add Free Dining (if it's offered) at a later date?

If any discounts come out later, you can always modify your reservation to include them.

I am trying to hold out for a discount. I know I am only one person but Im hoping if few people book in December waiting for that discount itll help get a December discount! Not sure if it really makes any kinda of difference but it makes me feel like Im helping my cause! Im sure at some point Ill cave. But then again if there is no discount I may have to change my plans. ( I REALLY hope not!!) Good luck with your decision!

If you are going regardless of whether or not a discount comes out, I would book now to make sure you get what you want. As the pp said, you can call and have a discount applied at a later date should one come out, provided the resort/room type you have booked is available under the promo. Sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort/room type to take advantage of a discount as having a reservation in place doesn't guarantee a discount can be applied. Keep in mind that since free dining is a package (requires tickets), if you book a package now, it's easy to modify (pending availability); however, if you book room only now and want a package later, the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit (or payment in full if you are 45 days or less from arrival). Since room only and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other.

I was showing DH the spring deals ("they may have similar deals in the fall...") and he just said "well lets go in May".

That's 2.5 months away instead of 8.5 !!!!

Like others have said if you're going discount or not then book. However, if you will cancel if no discount shows up then the only reason to book early is to allow for earlier ADR booking.

Having a reservation does not guarantee a room at the discounted rate if one later comes out. Only so many rooms are allocated at the discounted rate. If you call to change your existing package and no discounted rooms are left then you will not get the discounted rate.
