We are going to Disney in early December for 5 nights. Free dining is not offered then and room only discounts aren't out yet. I would like to stay near Magic Kingdom and can probably stretch my budget to stay at Wilderness assuming they offer a 25%-30% discount. For summer and fall they are offering 25% so I think my chances are good. However, if they don't discount it I would probably stay at a moderate.
Would I be best to book Wilderness at full price and then apply the discount later? Or would I be better off booking a moderate now, cancelling later, and then booking Wilderness? Or not book anything until discounts are out? Ultimately, I prefer the location of Wilderness and that's what I want but I don't know if there are any benefits to booking it now. If they are just going to cancel my first reservation and then rebook it wouldn't matter. But if they just apply the discount to an existing reservation I could say guarantee I could get a certain view, etc.
