Book now for December, Right?

There is a ton of great info on these boards, but I'm a little slow on the uptake. . . Could one of you "experts" tell me if I've got it right?

I'm planning an on-site stay for the second week of December and there aren't any codes out yet. What I'm hearing is I should go ahead and book, then when/if the code is released later this summer or fall I should call back and get a credit for the difference?

Is there an advantage to booking early? Do you get preferance for rooms/location? What if I decide the discount is so good I can afford a "better" resort? Would I be able to upgrade then?

Thanks so much in advance! You guys rock and roll.

Why don't you book now through a TA, such as Small World? We did this last year for the first week of September. They were able to get us a room at POFQ, when Disney was saying there were no more available. They also will automatically apply any discounts or codes you qualify for. They are free and very helpful!

This is correct, if a code comes out you can apply it to an existing reservation and either have a credit or less to pay when the balance is due.

You are more likely to get the room you would like, the sooner you book the more availibility there is. I don't see the second week in December being a problem but you never know, weird things happen. This way if you know you are going and are willing to pay full price, you will at least get the room you want.

Yes you can upgrade, basically you would make a new reservation with the new resort and discount and cancel the old one.

If you are a member of AAA, the discounts are already available for December. Remember to ask when you call member services if they have a AAA room discount at the hotel you want.

I will book ASAP or maybe try working with a TA. I'm not a AAA member, although I probably should be!

Thanks, again.

FYI - Codes/discounted rooms are limited. AP rates aren't always guaranteed either. Just because you have a reservation doesn't mean you can automatically "flip-it".

We were @ WDW last year the 2nd week of Dec. & thought it was "busy". Osbourne Lights & MVMCP...good luck :)

We were there from the 13th thru the 18th for our honeymoon in 1997 and it seemed like a ghost town! I guess everything is busier now and they didn't have the lights then.

I love traveling in early/mid December when most folks are running around like headless chickens trying to get ready for the holidays. I don't mind missing the holiday office party, either! Those things are never any fun.

Thanks again.

I would book sooner rather than later. AKL deluxe savannah views are shown to be all gone on the website.
