My Disney trip is planned for March we are planning on taking Amtrack from NY - FL So that part we have figured out. Our problem is Do we go with a Travel agent or do we book right with Disney? Our Goal is to stay in the Port Orleans Riverside 5 nights 6 days. We are choseing a dinning plan with One Dinner One Quick service and I guess 1 snack. This should be ok with our 3 girls because they dont eat much, they just drink alot. SO if any of you have any suggestions please feel free to suggest :)
Thank you

I like to book myself directly through Disney Travel. If you make a reservation through a travel agent, then everything has to go through them. Even if you were to make changes, they'd have to do it for you.

Are you talking about March of this year? If so, you need to book as soon as possible.

Yes This year.... We are doing a last minute trip booking it Feb 29th :)
We are a low income family relying on our income taxes to go, But it has been our dream since our oldest was 3. So I just hope and pray that it will be perfect.

Booking with a TA will give you allow you to let someone else do all the detail planning. They might give clients an itinerary, make ADR's for them, make touring plans (if they would like to have them), and other recommendations & such.
A TA will also make sure and have the best price booked for you, as well as make other recommendations.

Also, TA's do not cost you any money, as Disney pays our commissions. ;)

Like the pp mentioned, you will not be able to make changes, and will need to have your TA do that for you. Many are available by email or phone.

Love last minute trips... less time waiting for the actual trip to arrive! :rotfl:

Last year, I booked mine within 40 days of travel. Talk about a whirlwind trying to get it all planned out! This time, I've been sitting on it since, ohhhh AUGUST of last year! :rotfl: I'm so ready to go, I'm driving the family NUTS.

It would be a good trip if you had to take a stage coach.:thumbsup2

Wow! Your trip will be here before you know it. I love planning Disney trips.

If you can swing it, I would go ahead and book through Disney. You can do a room only reservation if you can pay for one night's stay. This is what we are doing because we won't have the money to pay for the whole trip until much closer to time to go. We'll add the dining and tickets right before we go as well. With a room only reservation you can get a full refund up to 5 days (I think) before you arrive, with a package, refunds aren't as easy. Good luck!

All you have to put down when you make your reservation is $200.00. You don't have to pay the balance until 45 days before your check-in date. Also, even if you haven't make your resort/package reservation, you need to go ahead and call and make your Advance Dining Reservations. You will be at Disney during Spring Break, which is a very busy time and you won't be able to get any walk-up seating at most of the popular places, especially those restaurants with character dining. In fact many of the character meals may already be booked up. The dining plan is a great money saver, if you us it correctly. You don't want to be wandering around looking for somewhere to use your credits or worse wasting the credits and losing money.

We have gone to Disney many times and have never needed a Travel Agent. You can just call Disney reservations and they will handle everything for you. We use www.touringplans.com for planning park days and touring schedules. But, seriously, if I were you I would get on the disney site tonight and start booking some on-line dining reservations.

The dining plan you are looking into should be more than enough food for you all! I tend to bring some quick breakfast items that travel well (granola bars, dry cereal, maybe some english muffins) use the Counter Serve for lunch and the Table Serve for dinner. We are not hungry through the day. And if someone is, that's what the snacks are for.
You should make your advance dining reservations for the sit down restaurants you want as quickly as possible! Those do book up fast!

Have a magical trip! :wizard:
