I understand Book It gives good prices on nice, clean, safe hotels near Disney so I checked them out. I just came across a 3.5 star "upscale mystery hotel inside Disney close to Downtown Disney Markeplace" for $59 a night with a "normal" price of $249 a night. Anybody know what this hotel might be?

give the dates. Maybe some of us can look at it and see. There's a lot more info then you gave that can help figure this out.

My bet is on the Best Western, but the "rate" before the discount is too high... ..hmmm...

:thumbsup2 Check in on 10/22 and out on 10/26.

Could be the Hilton. When you click on read more it says they have character dining in the hotel. Hilton is the only DTD hotel I know of that offers that

But the room type description matches Hotel Royal Plaza.

Sorry to butt in here, but.....I'm thinking this is a really good deal if it's one of those hotels? Maybe I should grab it?

Good deal if it is the Hilton

Not quite as good if Royal Plaza. Rack rate that week on their website for Tower Room is $109. I would not stay there without a tower room others are not very nice

Do they give you any more information on the hotel? How many people?

There is no 3.5 star that is normally $249 per night.

Well....other than Disney hotels, but that's obviously not it.

Could it be Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham? Photo of rooms look similar. Both are 3 1/2 stars and have Disney transportation.

When I checked the site again, there was an upgrade to a tower room for $149 a night. So if it's the Royal Plaza, it's $40 more a night than the rack rate. :confused3 Does the Hilton have Tower Rooms?

Basically nothing more than what was already mentioned by OrangeCountyCommuter and me. Disney Character breakfast, located on Disney property etc. Just 2 people.

So not even the Hilton?

The photos have "sample" on them so I assume those aren't pictures from the actual hotel but just something comparable? Not sure.

Wow, would really love to know if that's the Hilton. If the same rate applies for Sept 27-10/1, I would cancel my current ressie at Hampton Inn and grab this because it would save me about $40.

Why dont you call the toll free number and speak with an agent. they might tell you

I am pretty sure this is the Buena Vista Palace based on the amenities basketball court, tennis court, playground, character breakfast on Sunday, children's program, lakeview, tower and non tower accomodations.

Hi

A tip I have used successfully to discover secret hotels is to google descriptions that have been used for the mystery hotel and match them with google results. In this instance I have googled the description "When the budget out-weighs the view the resort offers this room type as a comfortable and affordable solution. This mystery traditional room offers a king or two double beds and features an exterior entrance allowing guests to take advantage of our famous Florida tropical breezes." a match on google comes up with the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort which also features Disney character breakfasts 3 times a week. I would with 99% certainty say that this is the mystery hotel

Did you book it? What hotel did you get?

Why do these sites do mystery hotels? Why can't they say the name and when do you figure out which hotel it is? Thanks!!

This is a strategy that hotels use called "opaque pricing". If they have more rooms open than they expect for a given time period, they can offer some of those rooms at a steep discount. Because the hotel is never explicitly named, someone searching for that hotel through regular channels won't see the super-cheap price, and so might book it at the "regular" price. In other words, the hotel is discounting some inventory without implicitly discounting all of it.
