My Dh and I will be having our 10 year anniversary in January. We plan to go to WDW, and stay at his parents house. They are planning on buying one in November. I would dearly love to cruise on Disney. He has not been overly enthusiastic when I have mentioned it. I am saving the money for the vacation out of my check. I work 16 hrs a week to get us a little mad money(vacations, mcdonalds). We are just a middle class family, with not a lot of money. In your opinion, how do you think this kind of surprise would go? Has anyone cruised with a reluctant partner? and did they grow to love it? Neither one of us has ever been on a cruise before. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I cruised last November with a hubby that was ready to cancel at every turn!
First 9-11, then the AA crash just before we left.....it was unnerving, but he was using it as an excuse to get out of a trip that he never REALLY wanted to go on......
bottom line, we had the vacation of a lifetime.....I loved it, my DD loved it and HE loved it! The magic of Disney is hard to resist......the ESPN big dang beer mug helped, too!!
He did complain NON-stop about the WDW trip after the cruise.....I should have quit while I was ahead!!

Print out the wonderful cruise reports that Steve is writing, then print out the tales from the Frozen North on Daves DCL tribute, and place them strategically where DH might read....

My Dh was not too keen on the idea of cruising, so I talked him and daughter into a 3 night, just to try cruising. He loved it so much that when I mentioned the 7 night in January, and getting a 3 night for $99, he jumped on the idea. So, on Oct. 3rd, we'll be on board for our 3rd cruise in a year--it really is a great vacation.

I know this may sound amazing, considering that hubby and I have cruised Disney 21 times and that he was the one who urged me to book three in a row on the Wonder this fall, but in the beginning he was totally against the idea of cruising!!
I had always wanted to try it, but all he wanted to do was ride roller coasters. Eventually I got him down to Disney World and he started to share that addiction with me. Then he finally agreed to try their new cruise line because 1) It was the Disney brand; 2) It was only 3 days. That was three and a half years ago, and now I can barely drag him off the ship. You never know!

DH has always wanted to cruise but NOT on Disney. He wants to go on a ship where he can gamble. I told him he can gamble in St Thomas.
I honestly believe the only reason DH is taking his first cruise and on Disney is because when we were at Disney in Oct we became DVC owners! We are cruising on points.
When DVC is paid off he will get to cruise on another line to compare. (Im thinking of giving it to him for his 50th birthday)

But after that first cruise, he was hooked, and he is always asking when is the next time we can go again. We go as often as we can...

Actually, there is gambling at St Maarten, but <i>not</i> at St Thomas.

But hey! How about bingo on the ship! Cheaper than craps?

My DH is not a very excitable person... Last Year I booked a cruise in May. He just kept mentioning how he thought is was a lot of money and crumbled almost the whole time I was planning so I just made the plans and did not mention them very much when it got close to time to leave I told him these are the things you will need to pack... that morning he was the first dressed had the car packed and once we stepped foot on the ship he was sold. He truly enjoyed himself we are now trying to decide what month to go next month.

Girl... just do it and I dont think either of you will be sorry.

thanks everyone I think I will book it. He can't hate it once onboard! at least I think so. lol
