Welcome to my pre-trip report! I attempted one of these years ago and I was not very good at it. I cannot make any promises that it will be any better, but hey, if you don't like it I'm sure there's something on Netflix!

First thing's first! I guess I'm supposed to tell you who I am and who's going on this trip? I'll give you a little bit of story a long the way!

My name is Kristin and I enjoy costuming (among many other things). I mostly do Disney/Star Wars costumes and have a couple other as well. While costuming I met my DBF Patrick. Before we were even dating we had a Disney trip planned for Star Wars Weekends with a couple other guys from our local 501st (a Star Wars costuming club that does charity events). We had a blast! Patrick got to march in the parade for his second year and we did the surf school at Typhoon Lagoon! About a month or so after the trip Patrick and I were dating!

But that's not all! My parents are pretty much in love with Disney too.. after all, who do you think took me on all my first trips? When I was leaving for my trip in May I could see it all over my dad's face that he was just so sad. My dad is mostly quiet but he does enjoy Disney! When we started thinking about going back I was like, we gotta ask if they wanna go, of course they said yes!

Wait, we can stay.. WHERE?!

For as long as I can remember going to Disney, I have dreamed of staying at the Polynesian. I grew up in Florida, and even so, I'm still obsessed with the tropical flora and Hawaiian culture at the Polynesian. Hawaii is my bucket list destination and Patrick and I may get to go next year (2016). Every trip I've been on since 2004 I've made it a point to make a stop at the Poly just to look around. My last 4 trips I've even eaten at 'Ohana!

Now, typically when I've been to Disney in the last couple years it's been for a special event. Running a Disney race (Princess 10k, ToT 10 Miler), Star Wars Weekends, F&W, and this trip is no exception. This time we're not only going for Food and Wine, we're going for Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party on Sunday Oct. 4th! (We'll talk more about that later!)

Patrick's family went to the party last year and they really liked it. My family was down there, but we didn't attend the party. We needed an excuse to get our Disney fix, so now we have out trip planned!

So, once we knew we wanted to go for the party, all that was left was to price out where to stay! Of course we started pricing out our cheapest options. However once we started looking around and we knew my parents were coming along it wasn't that bad to split a deluxe between the 4 of us. Now, I'm a travel agent for Disney, so I spent days pricing out all of our options. I knew we wanted the dining plan to use our snack credits for F&W. I entertained the thought of the Polynesian, merely as a dream. However, through ANOTHER company I scored an AMAZING deal they had going on for Garden View Club Level! It was $200 cheaper than what I had priced before and that was with dining included. So you're telling me we have the dining plan... club level food.. and food and wine... where's the heavy breathing cat at again??? lol

We won't be bringing our Star Wars costumes.. not only is it hard to be in them THAT long, we wouldn't be able to ride anything (can't sit!!)! I'll give an update here soon with our MNSSHP costumes in it!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share that Patrick and I were in a short music video to try and convince Mark Hamill to come to a local convention called Dragon Con. It was a parody on "Be Our Guest"! It was pretty funny and we got to dance around in our Stormtroopers! Here's a picture from the shoot! I'm on the left (with the long blonde hair!! lol) and Patrick is on the far right!

ARRIVAL DAY!!

October 1st is the day! We'll be getting up around like 4 in the morning which is sort of our tradition lately on Disney trips. We get up SUPER early and leave around 5-6 am. It's only about a 7 hour drive from Atlanta so we're at Disney around lunch time!

Oh.. and we gotta stop at the Florida line for one of these pictures! We should have our Stormtrooper Mickey helmets this year! We're working on them right now!

On our SWW trip Patrick and I stopped at one of his favorite restaurants in Celebration.

Columbia Restaurant

This is a Cuban restaurant know for their famous salads and Cuban sandwiches! I'm originally from Tampa and lived their 11 years, so my parents and I have eaten some Cuban sandwiches in our days. We'll see what my parents think about Columbia!

Since we technically can't check-in until 3 pm we'll take a chance and head to the Poly to see if our room is ready!! It should be about 1-2 by the time we get there. Worst case we'll have them hold our stuff.

We don't have a park planned this day which is new to me. Typically we get in and run straight to a park since we still have half a day ahead of us. We figured we could use this day to enjoy the Polynesian! We're going to explore, hang out by the new Volcano pool, enjoy club level, go to Trader Sam's and have one, or four Dole Whips! Patrick and I are obsessed with Dole Whip! We even make it at home!

We won't be able to hang out at the Poly for TOO long! We have an ADR at DTD at 9:30 pm! We'll talk about where in the next post, along with our other food and ADR plans!

So that should be our first day.. worst case if we're bored we can ride around the monorail and do some shopping/browsing. I think we'll be pretty content just enjoying everything the Poly has to offer!
