Still trying to get great ideas for our trip in 2 weeks and the negative "I know everything about Disney and go every year and hate the new system" people are really bogging me down. Can't people just be happy? It's my family's first trip, they are ruining it!!! So all positive here on this thread, any last minute tips?

I'm headed to the World in three weeks. I was very excited to get magic bands! No more lost KTTW cards (my DS lost his three times last trip). I like the convenience of the MB, and I like FP+. I know for sure that I can get in TSMM without a hassle, because I have a FP+ for it :).
No negativity from me.

We will be there on the 29th thru Nov 13. Tips.... Have fun! Don't let someone having a bad day affect you. We are all humans (I think lol) so bad days and moments happen. Just don't dwell on them! Understand that you will not be able to do everything. It's not possible. Enjoy what you can do and if you have little ones don't rush them the whole time. If they want to watch a band at Epcot or the trains in Germany for 30 mins go with it if you can. That is where the memories are made. Take breaks. Even if you don't want to go back to the hotel, sit on a bench or linger at a cs a few extra mins to give everyone a few mins to rest. Don't sweat what your kids are or aren't eating. It's vacation. When you get home you can get them back on track so don't worry. Follow the signals of those in your group. If they are cranky rest, hungry snack, hot seek AC. You may find they need a slow morning at the hotel one day to regroup from all the rush. Try to allow that.

If you have specific questions, I am happy to help. Have a magical trip.

Do you have any specific questions? We can help :) I understand what you are saying about the negativity! I am done reading the theme parks board, it is downright depressing! I hope we don't run into too many negative nelly's when we are there! lol!

No negative nelly here, but I don't have any last minute tips either... we are leaving in 3 days and I keep feeling like I am forgetting things! :scared:

Even so, I'm TOTALLY EXCITED!!! :yay:

Have a fabulous trip to the HAPPPIEST place on earth! :thumbsup2

I'm kinda with you on this. It will be my first trip as well, and I wouldn't say they're ruining it, but they're making me nervous about crowds for certain rides and all this stuff that's going wrong, and it's like...i'm just happy to go! You'll have fun no matter what!!!! it's your first time! Especially if you have kids or even just watch other kids you'll love seeing it through their eyes :)

Don't worry about Magic Bands and Fast passes...just go enjoy.
No vacation is without a flaw or two. I've been going to Disney for many, many years, from the time you had to hand a ticket in for each ride...You can't see it all, you'll stand in lines for some things, you'll walk right in to others (with or without FPs). Talk to kids about lines before you get there, people watch, you see all sorts of things you'd miss if you walked right into every ride. Disney is an experience, no two trips are ever the same. Have fun, and enjoy the family time, take time to rest, and get ready to plan for the next trip !!:thumbsup2

Thanks so much everyone. That is my plan. Enjoy!!! My biggest issue right now is fast pass plus...is it worth it?? We are doing BBB but not a lot of the rides that are included. I just can't decide !!!

Not sure I would allow anyone to ruin my trip. Just ignore them. Some people just like to complain and hear themselves talk.

Looks like you'll be there after Halloween and while they are changing over the seasons. I would say check with the CM's and ask when they are building the ginger bread house at the Floridian. It's awesome. We would love to go hang in the lobby and watch them putting it together for a while. Enjoy!

Do not listen or pay attention to the Negative Nelly's, they are always there needing something to complain about. We have been going to WDW for many years and we always look for the good. Are there negative experiences that might happen? Of course, that's life but on the whole if you just relax and enjoy, you will have a great experience.

No matter how many YouTube videos you watch, no matter how many threads you follow, no matter how much you study the maps, The parks are more amazing than anything you can imagine! As far as FP+ goes, it sort of depends on the ages of you kids, whether they like 'fast' rides, and if you have a daily park plan. For a first trip, I say just go, and figure it out when you get there!
Have a pixiedust: trip!

We leave in 2 weeks too!

My advice- you can not see everything so don't try. Enjoy what you are doing! Don't rush off because it is a must do on someone's list. We have spent close to an hour playing hide and seek in the maze behind UK in Epcot with DD. wouldn't trade those memories for anything!

Also take lots of candid shots! If every picture is with a photo pass they end up looking the same. My favorite photo is of DD pointing to a character in the parade- her face is priceless!

I was going to say "isn't that the exact thing people are trying to answer?" but realized you mean PHOTOPASS plus.

If you're going to preorder it has to be no more than 14 days from arrival.

As for the other stuff, I just think it's odd to be negative about negativity. I personally don't want people to be negative about negativity. I don't mind negativity unless it's ABOUT negativity. Make sense? Yeah, neither does being negative and saying boo about negativity to things you aren't negative about.

First trips are difficult and huge and overwhelming and honestly we just had our 4th LONG trip (b/c if we're going x-country we are settling in) and we're just now starting to figure out where things are and how to do things. You do what you can do, see what you can see, and try to pay attention! Best of luck!

I have not tried the new FP+ yet.

But, I will say that our motto with regular FP was always: better to get one and decide not to use it than not get one and wish we had.

Anyway, I love the DIS, but when people come to me for advice on their first trips, I tell them to stay far away from the forums. They're enough to frighten anyone who hasn't been to WDW yet. ::yes::

Just remember, though, that the reason people get so up in arms over change is because they love WDW so much in the first place.

Have a magical trip!pixiedust:

ETA: Oops! Just saw that we're talking photopass here.

To the OP, congrats on your first trip. Disney is magical and if you are traveling with kids ... even better!
My last minute tip: Chapstick! I always need Chapstick while at Disney for whatever reason. Also, there is a lot to do (understatement of the year) take time to meet the characters, people watch, walk down Main Street at MK and listen to the music and buzz in the air. I always try to sit outside near Casey's Corner to look at the castle, listen to music and let the kids take it in. Have fun and don't live behind your camera lens. Pictures are great but living in the moment is the best part of the trip.

Thanks all, I got the photo pass plus !! Mostly because I feel like I won't worry so much about living behind the lens! 14 days!!
