Well, February means bonuses at my company, and guess what.
I GOT ONE! hee-hee. Well, I got a little more than expected.
And so began my Quik-Trip to WDW two weekends ago.
The Blitz: Sat.
- arrived Sat. morning in the cool rain;
- grabbed my ride and headed straight to the Boardwalk;
- checked bag (notice I said bag) and walked to Swan for lunch;
- uneventful lunch but people watching was fun;
- to work off lunch I set out for EPCOT and a few laps around World Showcase -
- pitstops at Innovations, Living Seas, the Land, then on to WS;
- dampness and puddles meant feet were soaked, so lots of coffee stops along way;
- back to Boardwalk and Big River Grill for dinner, yum yum, chicken caeser salad - oh, and a brew too!
- hurried walk back to EPCOT for Illuminations, from Japan; EXCELLENT SPOT;
- retired to Boardwalk, very tired;
The Recovery: Sun.
- after morning coffee and muffin, I was MGM-bound;
- sunny & warmer day meant a great walk to MGM along canal - Sundays don't get better!
- I was there before 9am opening, a first, and very interesting, everyone was so patient;
- at 9:01am the Mouse said "Go" and it was off to the races;
- Fast Pass at RnR and then, since no line, in for real;
- "Are You Ready To Rock-n-Roll?" ... just walk this way ....
- 3-2-1 Freeway jamming .... yeahhhhhh! What a rush .....
- I love RnR, the absolutely best themed coaster I've ever seen;
- doesn't hurt that I feel like I'm in High School every time I ride it -
- break til Fast Fass ride meant heading over to TNT, aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
- I love being on with TNT newbies, how fun;
- lunch meant only one thing, "Elbows Off The Table Young Man!" - Prime Time Cafe
- in truth, I don't get insulted very much, hence my attraction to PTC;
- morning gone, back to Boardwalk for relaxing workout/dip in hot tub/ book by the pool;
- oh yeah, I did watch the end of the US/Can gold medal hockey game, snif-snif, I'm still hurt;
- evening meant one thing, EPCOT, WS, drinks at Rose & Crown, dinner at Mexico, and ...
- Illuminations!!! yes, I kind of like that, simply inspiring!
- warmer, not soaked like night before, the walk back brought back memories of DisCon I and DATW, the walk over to Kimonos - friends, sparkles, great time!
- retired tired again;
The Return: Mon.
- Monday dawned warm, sunny, just another day in paradise;
- a run around Boardwalk and to MGM and back was perfect (almost
)
- with an evening flight, it was off to MGM for another double-team day;
- seconds helpings on RnR were just as good as the 1st;
- TNT redux was equally rewarding and fun, it gets better everytime;
- return to Boardwalk for lunch at Beaches&Cream, um burgers....
- afternoon for EPCOT, Innovations (opposite side)
- such a beautiful afternoon called for a break, a beer at RnC, and great people watching;
- a quick walk to France for a stroll thru the rue, and
- then back to the Boardwalk for my ride back to MCO ... snif-snif, I didn't want to go;
So, there you have it. A Quik-Trip in the medal of Olympic mania, first damp and then
spun dry by RnR / TNT / and my poor feet.
Illuminations kept my spirits high and the Rose&Crown and France kept memories alive.
All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better Quik-Trip.
