Day 8: March 16
Decided to go to I of A for the first day. Just as we entered the park, it started to rain! We did our best to do the park, but I have to admit, I wasnt really enjoying myself. Left before noon, got dry clothes on and thought we would go to Florida Mall or something to kill a few hours. Had some lunch and before long it started to clear up. Didnt go to the mall and returned to do the park. Much better when its not raining! Had dinner at Margueritaville and had a wonderful time better than last year actually. The gal on stilts made us all balloon hats and the food was tasty. We all noticed how congested Citywalk was that evening. When we left the restaurant to get a coffee at Starbucks, they had closed off the upper section for some kind of convention. Ive never seen so many middle-aged guys whopping it up in one place. It was crazy and it wasnt as much fun with so many people milling around so we headed back to RPR to go swimming. We werent in for more than 20 minutes when a whistle blows and the lifeguard states that the pool is closing! What! I couldnt believe that they were closing at 9 p.m.! Im not usually one to complain, but I did go to the concierge desk and inquire about the pool hours at the other resorts. Supposedly they are still on winter hours and I expressed my frustration at the fact that so many people were kicked out so early. I dont understand the reasoning the parks close much too early IMHO, and unless you want to party the night away, the pools are the only other activity available. We ended up sitting up in our room watching TV which I found frustrating and not how I wanted to spend my time while at Universal.
