Cast of characters: Bonnie (me!) 42 and resident vacation planner!
DH Shane 45 driver and happy doing anything!
DD Shayna 17 Disney nut and wishes she was American instead of Canadian!
DS Ben 14 wise guy who rolls with just about everything!
DS Jarrett 12 used to be the easy one to travel with but now has very little patience with crowds and anything that doesnt include swimming!
Day 2: March 10
Uneventful trip. Drove 11 hours and the roads were clear and moving well. We traveled down I75.
Here is where I should point out how pro American we are. Its important to understand how much we love spending time in the US, but the turning point for my daughter Shayna was our trip to Florida last year. I dont know what it was exactly, but consider this: we redecorated her attic bedroom with 3-D palm trees, tropical bedding and she has a giant American flag hanging in her room! Now thats being fanatical! Every patriotic song she can find she has and we had to listen to them non-stop as soon as we crossed the border! Come hell or high water she wants to live there someday!
Delswife has Commando Nicki and Ive got Im not that creative but probably the most pro-American teenage Canadian girl going! Im going to have to come up with a snappy nickname for her hum
Anyway, she immediately begins commenting on how much nicer people are in the US. I have to admit, there were very few people we encountered that I would say werent nice and friendly. Americans really know how to make people feel welcome!
We drive as far as the Florida border and eat at a nice Cracker Barrel knock-off. Just love the greens and mashed potatoes. Cant get greens at home. We know were on vacation when the air is balmy and warm. Just love it!
