Here is my attempt at a trip report…

March 9 - 20

Cast of characters: Bonnie (me!) 42 and resident vacation planner!
DH Shane 45 – driver and happy doing anything!
DD Shayna 17 – Disney nut and wishes she was American instead of Canadian!
DS Ben 14 – wise guy who rolls with just about everything!
DS Jarrett 12 – used to be the easy one to travel with but now has very little patience with crowds and anything that doesn’t include swimming!

Day 1:

I have been planning this year’s March break trip for quite some time and was hoping to plan as wonderful a trip to Florida as we had last year.

We had planned to leave Ontario on the 10th of March, taking the kids out of school for two days before March break. A few days before we were scheduled to leave, my husband had the opportunity to schedule a business meeting in Florence, KY on the 9th, so we left a day early and drove 8 hours to Florence. What a nice place! Dropped him off and took the kids shopping at the Florence Mall. I was thrilled and of course they were thrilled because we used the afternoon to get the clothes shopping out of the way. I didn’t know how we were going to squeeze in the Florida Mall once we got to Florida, so this worked out great for us! Shayna was dying to buy stuff at Abercrombie and Fitch because we don’t have that chain here in Canada. I thought at one point she was going to work herself into a frenzy with the amount of stuff she was buying! Glad it was her money and not mine! Ben was thrilled to pick up some stuff too, but unfortunately malls are not Jarrett’s idea of a great afternoon. He just wanted to go swimming in the hotel pool! I had to bribe him with food and thankfully he didn’t pull a fit at the mall.

We had a lovely dinner at the Olive Garden and called it a night. The plan was to put in a hard day’s drive the next day.

My sister loves A & F as well. She goes nuts in that store.

Sounds like a nice start to your trip.

A perfect way to start a trip:D I love shopping:D

Oh, I love to read reports about kids my son's age...He will be 12 on our next trip. Did your twelve your old still like the characters? Did all your kids enjoy themselves...Even the 17 year old.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit to Kentucky!!:D

Come back and see us anytime!

Actually, the reason for going to Disney again this year was because my 17 year old couldn't imagine going to Florida and not doing Disney! My 12 year old pretty much does anything, but gets tired of lines and crowds pretty quickly and is happy swimming in a pool or hanging out in a water park. My 14 year old was the big surprise - I thought he would be anxious to get back to his friends, but he was very reluctant about coming home, so I guess he had a good time as well. For us, it's more about being all together without telephones, computers, etc., and spending uninterrupted time together just being ourselves. We really value that and the kids do too!
