What are your thoughts? Windsor Hills seems to be about $70 or $80 cheaper a night. It will be me, DH, DS10, DS7, DD4 and possibly MIL and FIL for a couple of those nights. TIA!

Windsor Hills is a residential development---it's like staying in your uncle's very nice vacation home. Tons of privacy, particularly if you have a home booked with a private pool. There are some nice neighborhood amenities (pool, etc.), but the focus is on a quiet, private getaway.

Bonnet Creek is a timeshare resort. More active, not as private, but more resort amenities.]

Which is "better" comes down to what sort of vibe you are looking for. We like the more "resort-y" atmosphere at Bonnet Creek, but YMMV.

use to recommend Windsor Hills - despite never staying there - it looks like from some of the reviews here that it has gone down hill. the villas just are not as nice as once were. the place may just be getting old. or the new owners don't care like previous owners.

This is helpful, thanks!

I don't think the entire WH resort has gone downhill. I think it's specific owners who aren't maintaining their properties which see a tremendous turnover over the course of a year. Lots of wear and tear on the units, furniture, appliances, pots & pans, etc. We've actually had better luck using vrbo for WH and renting from individual owners than the company that we used in the past to rent at WH.

Having stayed at both a private home and also at Bonnet Creek I think for me it would come down to the time of the year. When we stayed at the private home, it was our xmas, New Year trip and I loved the fact that despite the temps, we had our own heated pool and we didn't have to go far to get it. I loved the area and the quietness of the development and I loved the game room in our vacation home.

At Bonnet Creek, I love all the pools to choose from. I love being somewhat in the disney bubble being on property and I love all the resort type amenities.

I don't think you can go wrong with the space each place provides.

In your situation, it may come down to how many bedrooms you looked at for each property and which will accommodate your family esp if you have in laws that might want to stay a few nights.

We've stayed both places...3 bedroom townhouse and 6 bedroom house in Windsor Hills and a 2 bedroom condo at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. My DH by far prefers WH. He likes how quiet it is and loved having a private pool. It's also nice to have a saved parking spot or driveway after a long day of walking! It's a little bit more of a drive, but honestly not much. WBC is a large resort so it is definitely louder. We stayed during the summer so it was packed, very hard to find a place to park! But the pools are awesome and it was nice having restaurants on site. The grounds are also beautiful and very well maintained.

As far as the condition of the unit, our 3 bedroom townhouse at WH beat both the 6 bedroom and 2 bedroom condo at WBC, hands down! It is totally based on how well the owner maintains the home. The furniture at our WBC condo was falling apart and the beds were horrible.
