Bonnet Creek Timeshare ?

Is bonnet creek now a wyndam property and not fairfield? I think I can trade into it with RCI. The only thing is that I own weeks and not points.

Fairfield is now Wyndham Vacation Resorts and Bonnet Creek is RCI but it would be a rare find if you can exchange into it.

I tried to trade into Bonnet Creek with RCI and was on the list for over a year. Three months before I was leaving on my trip, RCI contacted me and said that I would not be receiving my trade and tried to coerce me into trading into a lower ranked resort. I said no thanks, cancelled my trade, and they still put pressure on me to renew my RCI membership! Be very cautious with trying to trade into this resort. RCI trades are honoured last on the list, behind Wyndham and Fairfield! Good Luck!

An RCI trade into bonnet creek is not going to happen. Here's why.

Bonnet Creek is entirely in Wyndham's internal points program, called FairShare Plus, or FSP. When FSP owners want to deposit time into RCI, they don't reserve a week and deposit it; instead, they call Wyndham, who chooses what to deposit for them. Often, it's not even a "real" deposit, but instead is a bookkeeping entry against Wyndham's corporate RCI account. Furthermore, all of Wyndham's properties are considered as one for RCI's purposes, so Wyndham does not have to deposit any *particular* resort; it can choose any set of deposits it wishes to meet its developer-deposit obligations, and hold back high-demand weeks for its own membership.

So, Wyndham gets to decide whether or not any BC ever is deposited. And, as far as anyone can tell, they haven't deposited BC in years.

If you want to stay in Bonnet Creek, you're best bet is to rent a reservation from a Wyndham owner. The good news is that there is plenty of availability at generally decent prices at redweek and ebay, among other places.

Edited to add: Wyndham and Fairfield are the same thing, for timeshare purposes; it's just a branding/name change.

So why does RCI even bother having BC on their resort directory? I just joined Interval International with the hopes of trading into DVC at some point (maybe a pipe dream) and the only real reason I was also contemplating joining RCI also was for the BC aspect, but I guess I'll cross that off my list. I do want to stay there someday though to check it out before deciding if we want to buy into DVC again or Bonnet Creek instead, so I guess one day I'll be looking to rent from an owner.

In the early early days of BC, there were units deposited. A few even made it to AFVC---the skyauction variant for the military. But, the deposits dried up very quickly. Fundamentally, developers deposit units for one of two reasons. One: their own owners don't want them. Two: they need foot traffic through the resort to drive sales. BC is in demand year-round, and it's practically been selling itself---so well, that they've raised the heights of the last few towers they are building to put in more units.

If sales or internal demand dries up, then you might seen BC deposits again. I wouldn't count on it.

It remains an affiliated resort because FSP owners are given memberships in either RCI or II, depending on their first resort purchased. BC owners get RCI. But, because RCI treats Wyndham as "one big resort", deposits from *any* resort (including places like FF Glade and FF Bay with very low demand) count against their quota.

As an aside, you might have better luck with SFX or one of the other independents. For those, Wyndham owners *can* reserve and deposit weeks of their choosing---including Bonnet Creek.

why does RCI do it....."padding" and a good selling point for salesmen when they can point to the book and say look....we have always found this very weird as you point out.

when Bonnet Creek was new, weeks used to show up on skyauction too, through their Ready Set Go auctions ( that happened for a few months )

we got an exchange into Bonnet Creek through RCI, the sales person trying to entice us into buying BC was surprised we got in on an exchange, this was not suppost to happen

anyhow we enjoyed it in may 2005 at the beginning of disney's anniversary celebrations especially the fireworks they put on at MGM for the PRESS...

Well, I've never been one to be patient...I still haven't gotten my actual recorded deed yet or the membership number from the timeshare, so I'm a member with temp. status I have the ability to check for getaway deals just not anything yet to deposit to actually look for an exchange... When it does go through, it will be a one bedroom week in Surfside Beach, SC (right outside of Myrtle Beach), week 14 (red week). Not on the beach but comes with two free greens fees each day at one of several local courses. I would be happy being able to trade it in for studio at OKW or SS every now and then, but I guess I won't hold my breath.

we are new to II also, but so far have not seen any DVC on searches, there might be a filter although we can do an ongoing search for DVC resorts since they are not "blocked out" in that aspect.....the thrill of the HUNT....
