We just got back from Disney and saw something we have never noticed before. There was a resort called Bonnet Creek Resort on Disney Property. We have been to Disney alot of times and have never noticed this before. Any one know anything about this?

WE just got back also and noticed the same thing. Saw a couple of directional signs for it. Is it part of Disney? Why haven't we heard anything about it?

Back in the days when POR/PORFQ were known as Port Orleans and Dixie Landings Disney used to refer to them as the "Bonnet Creek Resorts" - perhaps that is what it means?

Actually, the security guard at my bank was telling me about the Bonnet Creek Resorts right before we went in July, and as we were riding around, we did see the resort.

From what he said, its a timeshare resort, but it is not owned by Disney. He said they purchased into the timeshare, and asked if we were interested, to give his name as he would get some kind of discount on his maintenance fees. This resort would have bus service to the parks, according to the security guard. (I have a Mickey Mouse purse and wallet, and he commented on it and we started talking Disney!)

Although we did go drive by the resort, we did not get out and look around. It does look nice.

They have been building this for several years. It is not owned by Disney. If you do a search here on the DIS you will find several discussions about the resort.

It's a Fairfield (part of Marriot group) time share resort. As already posted, the resort and the land under it are not owned by Disney.

Best wishes -

I don't think the buses they will use will be Disney operated . This is an outside timeshare that owns that land.

I know if we are on a bus from Disney and had to make a stop at a timeshare or resort not owned by Disney I would not like it.

Greetings!
I will be staying at Fairfield Bonnett Creek from 11/27-12/8, so I should be able to give a report when I return. This is Fairfield's newest Orlando resort, just opening the first phases in June. If it's like most other Fairfields (and I've heard that it's much better!), it should be wonderful.

Just an FYI. The Fairfield timeshare is NOT associated with the Marriott chain. (Trust me if you take both tours you will see the difference, Fairfield is VERY high pressure!)

Years ago when the Disney Institute was operating I took a canoe trip on the Disney property. The guide told us that there was a chunk of land surrounded on 4 sides by Disney that Disney did not own. According to her, Disney had not finished negiations for this land when the story broke that Disney was buying the land. (Remember they used shell corps to hide who was buying) The owner immediately went thru the roof and Disney walked away.

You may read a little more about the Fairfield Orlando at Bonnet Creek resort on their website. If you are a member of TUG (Timeshare Users Group), you will be able to read a resort review from someone who has stayed there and see the Picture Page they've posted. Every report that I've read so far (from Fairfield owners who've stayed there and posted on a Fairfield owners' email loop) has been very positive.

The condos are designated (not lock-off) deluxe 1BR, 2BR, 3BR and 4BRs. They're spacious and beautifully furnished in a Mediteranean style. All have king MBR suites w/jacuzzi, full kitchen, LR/DR, washer/dryer, dial-up & high speed internet access for those with a laptop and a balcony w/ at least a partial view of the lake. The photos of the interiors are lovely.

The resort has a zero-entry pool w/poolside snack bar, 2 hot spas, a floating river and an interactive children's water play area. Indoors, there's a game/activity room and a billiards room w/large screen TV. For adults, business/computer access is available as well as a fitness room.

My understanding is that Atlantis Limo & Trans. has the contract for the shuttle buses to/from the Disney theme parks. Don't know much more. It has a more limited schedule than the Disney buses. The location of this resort is next to CBR and rather near OKW so I would consider this shuttle service as an option when our family may wish to split up, with us driving otherwise.

Epcot & MK fireworks reportedly may be seen from all of the upper floors - either from the front walkways or from the balconies of the units, depending on the building. I really hope to stay there someday (we're FF owners at another FF resort). This timeshare resort only has 2 buildings open for occupancy so far (the main Village building and one more condo building). But it will eventually have several pool & recreation areas for 1,100 units. It's only a part of the Bonnet Creek Development, which is supposed to have been approved for building 4 upscale hotels and golf course besides the timeshare resort. HTH. :)

although fairly close to CBR - it is not really close to OKW - closer to Pop Century.

However you are talking about crossing a very busy street - I would think twice before choosing this route.

since part of this street is buses only - they are probably not even considering looking for walkers.

Spiceycat, I'm not sure I understand your post. I had meant that the location is convenient for a very short drive to the parks. We always drive, whether onsite or off. But if we needed to split up, we'd use the Bonnet Creek shuttle service to help with that. Guess that wasn't very clear in my previous post.

FWIW, I would not encourage anyone to try to walk between the Bonnet Creek development and any other resort. Those are really busy roads without sidewalks! Wandering off road into wildlife habitat in Florida isn't such a great idea either, IMHO.

Eventually, the BC development will have more hotels. If they join together to contract for shuttle services, buses may become available more frequently. Walking between resorts/hotels (for golf, restaurants or shopping) within BC will be very easy. Much of the internal, paved roadway, sidewalks and street lamps are already in place. :)
