We never stayed off property but starting to plan a trip with 7 people total and even with value resorts, it may be too costly. I'm still holding out to see if a good promotion comes out for the time that I'm going in February 2016 but in meantime, looking to consider non-Disney resorts.

I've heard of Bonnet Creek, is Wyndham Bonnet Creek or is it Hilton Bonnet Creek the is the one that everyone raves about - or both comparable?

I found some sites from Google that would rent out their condo suite, has anyone tried that instead of booking direct? If so, which site did you use to rent from owner? Any pitfalls I should watch out for if I go that route (prices seem too good to be true, hence the questions)? What is the reservation/check-in process if renting from an owner?

Thank you!

On the Bonnet Creek property you have:

- Hilton Bonnet Creek
- Waldorf Astoria
These are sister resorts that are side by side and share pools.

- Wyndham Bonnet Creek Hotel
- Wyndham Bonnet Creek Timeshare units
These are all built around a lake and all share multiple pools and amenities.

Have stayed in the Wyndham Bonnet Creek Timeshares multiple times and booked again, I use SkyAuction.

I rented Bonnet Creek through Vacation Strategy. They have a great cancellation policy. We a family of 6 and would have needed 2 value rooms or a villa to accommodate us. We are paying less for this villa per night then 2 standards at Pop.

When people on this board mention "Bonnet Creek" they are typically referring to Wyndham Bonnet Creek--the timeshare property with 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom rentals. It's a great, great property. I've stayed there twice. I find the best deals on eBay--you can try contacting eBay sellers directly if you don't see the dates you want. Just make sure they have lots of good reviews on timeshare rental transactions. I've also booked with Ken and Denise Price, but lately their offers haven't matched up to what I can get on eBay.

We've also booked Bonnet Creek through Vacation Strategy. LOVE their service and we were extremely pleased with the resort. All suites are decorated similarly and the prices when we go in Nov/Dec (off peak) are around $100/nt for a two bedroom suite. Super-nice pools and great proximity to the parks ... What's not to love?

SkyAuction is who I use. Read up though for all the fine print. There are Buy It Now and Auctions.

1 Bedroom, Auction, $47 a night inclusive of all taxes and fees
2 Bedroom (last Dec), Buy It Now, @$87 a night inclusive of all taxes and fees
1 Bedroom (just recently), Auction, $67 a night inclusive of all taxes and fees

I am in the same situation, except that my SOL is too tall for double beds, so even values are out for us. I thought about renting points, but we are still talking almost 3k for a 2 bedroom anywhere. I have contacted Ken Price, and I have found them to respond quickly. Their price for a 3 bedroom was half of what a 2 bedroom would be renting points. I really wanted to take my grandkids and do the AKL, but I just can't see that it's going to be doable.
