We traded into Bonnet Creek, do we get any maid service? Also, are there certain buildings that we are placed in?

Not sure I understand the question. Any of my RCI trades have come with a clean condo but it was my job to clean up messes during my stay. Most RCI trades can furnish maid service for a price. WBC I believe charges $89 for a mid-week cleaning. Personally I like the fact that no one is in the condo while I have it. If you stay for two weeks, then WBC will clean at the end of the first week for no extra charge. I think folks have said they change the sheets on the beds and do a quick clean - no deep clean.

Spanky answered your question about maid service. Regarding certain buildings, I don't think there's any one specific building you'll be in.

I'm not of fan of RCI. We have had it for 20 years and the only place we seem to be able to swap into is Florida. There was a scandal a couple years ago that explained this. RCI was renting instead of putting places in to swap. There were many times we just lost weeks due to expiration.

This is the first time to stay in WBC. This 1 was always difficult to get unless you planned 9 months or more in advance- which we did this time around.

I always read in many reviews that had to do with RCI swappers, that we seem to get the run down units, or the less desired areas.:sad1: And the prime spots were kept for owners. (not here specifically, but as swappers in general) So I am always aware and check out the unit we get first before I move all our stuff in.

Has any other swappins had any of these experiences??? Is any of this true??:confused3

I am looking forward to our stay in a month or so:banana:

Glad I found this forum for some great info. The hunt to fix the motion sensor AC led me here!! Got some great tips :) Thanks.

I will report back to let you know how this RCI swapper does:goodvibes

We've only owned Wyndham for a couple of years and have only done a few exchanges via RCI, but our experiences have all been good. Our most recent exchange was last December into a 2 bedroom at DVC's Old Key West, where we got exactly the specific building and view (on the canal :cool1:) we had requested.

Obviously anyone's ability to exchange depends on a) the relative value of their underlying timeshare, and b) availability of inventory. In overbuilt areas like the WDW area, you would expect to find pretty good availability so I'm not surprised that you've been successful there. On the other part of the equation, if you are exchanging with a timeshare with limited trading power, you may want to see if you can combine deposits to jack up your power.

Lots of great WDW info here on the DIS!

For general timesharing, and specifically for exchanges, I would look at TUG (www.tug2.com ) -- especially their Exchange forum and that of whatever timeshare you own, or are interested in trading into.

You will enjoy WBC. Beautiful resort, great location (actually closer to parks than some Disney resorts!), nice accommodations.

Avoid the "parking pass desk" and Wyndham timeshare sales weasels at all cost. Anything they ask you to do (ANYthing) is a timeshare sales presentation, and they are among the sleaziest in a sleazy industry.

But Bonnet Creek is great! Have fun!

How do u fix AC sensor?

Thank you JimMIA for that info. :wave2: I did exactly what you suggested and combined some weeks we would be losing and ended up with trading power of 60. I still don't understand exactly how that works. OTher than nicer resorts you need more points available. Different that when we started with RCI way back when. My daughter was 2. Now she is 22 and will be going to the food and wine festival with me at epcot!!! You guys that still have young kids, enjoy them with all the grief that accompanies children!:thumbsup2 They grow up so fast and time does fly.

As for the motion sensor controlled AC- There is an easy fix which I read in several places. 1- Get a couple of mylar balloons and tie them in front of the sensors. It will keep the air on while you are out and while you sleep. Otherwise, the temps rise to the preset of 76-78 and you wake up sweating.

2- The other more high techie way is to do a google search for the code on your ac panel or temp control box- there should be a model number. I read youtube, but I think it is more of a google search and you can easily get an override code to punch in.

3- Also, there is a button on the lower left of the thermostat box- labeled RF?? I think. You hold it for several seconds and it disengages the control of the motion sensor. Have read you may have to do this every time you make an adjustment or every 24 hours, whichever happens first.

Can anyone confirm the last 2 methods or make them clearer? I have been reading in a lot of forums, :confused:so I can't track them back to re-read the tips.

Just so you know, you can get DVC with 60 just about any time of the year...usually less, and of course a 1 BR or Studio would be less.

I don't know all the ins and outs either, but I know exchanges are a constantly moving target and RCI has to adjust with the rest of the industry. The days of a week anywhere for a week anywhere else have been over for a while.

To exchange regularly, we have to invest a little research time and stay current. TUG is a great place to do that.

Thank you Jim :) As for that pesky parking pass desk- I read to park at WBC you don't even need that parking pass. Can you confirm so I don't get my car towed :scared:without it??:goodvibes

The parking pass is a useless piece of junk. Last time I was at WBC, I got it, but left it in the room and never did put it in the car. It will not get you in the gate (room key is required).

The only purpose for it is to put you face to face with the timeshare sales weasels.

Incidentally, at WBC they sometimes come unannounced to your room with "welcome gifts." If that happens to you, do NOT let them in your room. If you do, they will not leave.
