Bonnet Creek charging credit card for security deposit

Is this something new? I checked in yesterday and they requested a credit card to put a $150 security deposit down in case of any damages to the room. They said it will be refunded a few days after check out.

I never had to do this last year on either of my stays.

The past couple of years, I have called in advance to ask about security deposit. Both times, I was given a different amount. At check in, I was never asked for a credit card. I wonder if it has anything to do with who you rent from or if this is a policy they're now enforcing.

I spent 2 weeks at BC last year and I was told on the phone about a security deposit, but when I got there I wasn't charged for security, but I was charged $100 that I got back. I don't remember what that was for.

Is the security charge per week or per stay? I will be there for 3 weeks this year and I'll be changing from a 2-bedroom to a 1-bedroom for my 2nd & 3rd week. Will they charge me $150 security per week?

Per stay, I think. I'm here for 8 days.

I'll also be here again in May for 2 weeks.

It is Wyndham's policy to charge 150 for resort purchases at all resorts but if you don't use it they refund at check out and based upon your bank it takes a couple of days. It isn't a security deposit.

Having visited several Wyndham resorts it seems like management comes in and tells them to start doing it and over time they stop. This cycle just repeats itself.

I was there for the past 8 nights, just got home today. They did ask for a credit card at check-in but just said they would be authorizing it. I don't think they even did that because nothing showed up on my credit card--not then, not now.
