Please tell me about the Boneyard in AK. Is it sand? What is there to do? I know parents are welcome, but what ages (of children) would be appropriate?
Thank you!!!

One part of it is caves to expore and dinos to climb on and a desert jeep to play in. There are slides, etc. Across the bridge, there is sand. My kids found it before I could get their shoes off and they had sand with us the rest of the day. Yuk. If your kids are young, they would never find that part on their own. Mine are big enough that they did :rotfl: I'm not sure if their is an age limit or anything.

Just to let you folks know, children must now wear shoes at all times while digging in the sand across the bridge.

I don't think it is actually sand. It seemed like really small rocks that are made to look like sand. We haven't had any problem getting all the stuff out of our shoes when shaking them out afterwards.

Here's a picture of part of the Boneyard. They have stairs that us adults can walk up, we don't have to climb up on ropes or anything. LOL I actually got freaked out the last time I was there because I couldn't find my niece, she finally came running up to me laughing and sweaty, she was having a blast and I was having a heart attack. LOL

This is a must do for us. The only problem we have is keeping an eye on more than one kid at a time. I'd feel better if they hand-stamped us on the way in like Chuck e Cheese. I take my DD's by myself and when they are running around the caves and climbing it is hard to keep your eye on them.

The other part over the bridge is a "dig" where this mulch like material that feel like gound up cork hide a dinasour skelaton and the kids dig it up. This is a great time to grab a coffee and sit on the benches around the pit while the kids dig.

my son is 12 and he still loves it in there-he spends at least an hour in there-i get a drink and sit on a bench outside while he plays

Our g-kids ages 1 and 3 had a great time at the Bone Yard. It was nice for them to cool off, they enjoyed getting wet going in and out of the cave.

My kids were DD13 & DS7 last year and they both enjoyed it there. My DH and I even get in there and play with them. Its a nice place to slow down and let off some steam in the afternoon. We usually grab a bottle of water to drink as well and then head to Dinosaur afterwards so we can get into AC after being in the sun.

This was a huge hit with our kids too. One of their absolute favorites and they were 2 & 4. The only thing I didn't like was the trying to keep an eye on them. It is virtually impossible. I finally gave up trying to watch their every move and parked myself next to the exit. There is only one way in and out. This made me feel a little better. Otherwise I was calling their names constantly and running around looking for them like a crazy woman.
