Boarding Of Disney Wonder Resumes

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Concerns about possible explosives kept parts of Port Canaveral closed for a time Thursday when bomb-sniffing dogs picked up on something suspicious during a supply transfer.

Disney Wonder
Passengers aboard the Disney Wonder were temporarily detained while a bomb squad inspected the ship's supplies. A bomb-sniffing dog identified a scent on a shipment of new mattresses that were being loaded onboard the ship.

The passengers in the process of debarkation were forced to remain aboard while the mattresses and other supplies were investigated. Two additional bomb-sniffing dogs were brought on scene and also picked up the scent.

New passengers waiting to embark were kept waiting in the parking lot until the suspicious materials were removed from the loading area. No explosive materials were found and the exchange of passengers commenced without additional delay.

The Brevard County Sheriff's office is investigating, but the Wonder has been cleared to set sail Thursday evening.

They've had bomb sniffing dogs at least since 9/11. We sailed right after that, and they had a dog sniffing as passengers boarded! Now, they sniff only luggage and cargo. Yes, they take good care of us.

Scary, isn't it? It's all over the local news here in Naples Florida. I for one and glad that they take these things seriously, even if it does interfer with our plans occasionally.

I spoke with one of the crew members and it did happen as posted - Disney did show movies, had Bingo and kept everyone calm and attended to - the big problem was that many had connecting flights and it became questionable if those flying out would make their flights - I am sure someone disembarking today will fill in all the details - Disney was right to take the steps they did in order to keep everyone safe - all the dogs picked up the same scent, but it did turn out to be ok - Thank God.
Anyhow hope this will make everyone easier.
Always
Shirley

Better safe than sorry. You just can't take any chances these days. Sad isn't it? :(

How long were they delayed? Did those disembarking miss flights etc.?
