After reading all the rave reviews of Boma...wife and I decided we would give it a shot.....we went on the 16th of this month.

Wife and I decided we would never try this place again. I like to try new stuff...and I like spicey stuff as well. But the food was mediocre at best. One thing I wish was that they would have something telling you what you were eatting. The only thing I found that I liked was the prime rib...with mustard sauce put on it.

Wife loves seafood and the main courses were seafood (I don't eat seafood or freshwater fish). But I tried multiple courses and the food just wasn't that good. I had to force myself to eat it...as I didn't like most of it.

Wife and I agreed that dessert was the best part of our meal...and it was soooo good...yummm zebra domes! Wife kept calling them Zebra muscles!

We decided this was the biggest waste of money on our trip....and I felt bad because I played it up so much to the wife...only to have her...not like the meal. :( Oh well at least I can cross this off my list.

I feel your pain. We aren't fans either. There are so many better places to eat, I don't understand the attraction to this place.

Well at least you tried it.

I considered it a good value for one credit and would consider it a good value for the price out of pocket.

It's one of those places you have to try once and see if you like it. I really liked it. But it was our 3rd favorite out of about 9 places we ate that trip. But I've read some of the reviews here and no way it could live up to some of em.

It wasn't our favorite either. Although it was late in the trip and I was so sick of eating and ADR's I am not sure that anything would have tasted good! I am glad we tried it and the service was some of the best, as were the desserts, but I was a bit disappointed. We may try it again someday, but it will be awhile, there are too many other places I like better.

Well wasn't a credit for us...and at around $30 a piece...neither of us ate a full plate of food. So the bill hurt....we try new places everytime we go...so we live and we learn. We found Liberty Tree Tavern so much better (weird eh), and Le Cellier(first time) was incredible for us on this trip! The Canadian Chedder Soup was as good as everyone says! I had the Grilled Petit and my wife the Calgary Maple Barbecue Chicken Sandwich. Both were excellent!

It's strange we have eaten at so many places...and Bomas is the only one we said we would never return to. At least I'm not alone :)

Sorry you didn't like Boma. :( It's actually our favorite restaurant at WDW. Maybe they were having an off night or something. However, everyone has their own personal preferences-- nothing wrong with that!

Just wanted to add that we love Liberty Tree Tavern and Le Cellier also. We've gotten the best character interaction of anywhere at WDW at the LTT dinner, and Le Cellier is our favorite spot in Epcot for lunch. :)

Marrakesh is the only one I'd never return to. But we had some huge problems there. There are those here that swear by it. I only swear at it.

I will say that we've either lucked out or haven't had enough experience (three trips), but we have yet to have a bad meal at WDW. I know that eventually we will, but maybe we'll keep up our lucky streak.

The closest thing we've had to a bad meal at WDW is the counter service at Disney-MGM. Easily the worst of the four parks when ot comes to fast food (or food in general, IMO).

Thank you! My entire family felt the exact same way. None of us liked Boma. After all of the hype we were so let down.

We did like seeing the ALK, though. It isn't exactly my style, so I probably woudln't stay there, but it is a pretty cool resort to walk around and see. That almost made up for going so far out of our way for a disappointing meal.

I actually loved the food at Boma - especially the soups and stews. I did find the desserts mediocre though.

I love Boma. I eat there between 4-7 times a year. Boma and Fresh at the Dolphin are the only buffet restaurants that I enjoy. I love the Soups/Stews, salads, prime rib w/various sauces, the bread pudding with vanilla sauce! I love the whole AKL resort experience, the ambience of the lodge, the restaurant and the food! "Different strokes for different folks" :)

I've eaten breakfast at Boma and it was very good (going back again this year) but this will be the first time for trying dinner at Boma...I hope its yummy...if not I"ll stick with breakfast there from then on....sorry you didn't like your meal...

In the words of my 7 year old son, Boma is "Yuk". My tip for an out of the way, great place to eat on campus is ...... Olivia's at Old Key West. The conch chowder is great. Get a bowl.

I like Boma and the staff told us what things were made of (they were labeled when we were there). Not everything is for everyone! That's what's so great about all those restaurants in one place!

I booked Boma for our upcoming trip. I'm a little nervous because we are all picky eaters. I hate anything with any type of bean, peas or chick peas. Does anyone know if their soups have beans or peas' in them? As far as the meats go, I would be happy with prime rib and a potato dish-and the deserts.

I've read that the Zebra domes are coffee flavored. That doesn't sound good to me. What are the Zebra domes like. Are they really coffee flavored?

So sorry for all of you that didn't care for Boma's.

It is the first adr we make every time, and wouldn't miss! We've had the chef come to our table, make special request soups ( we are addicted to the carrot ginger soup) and even bring out a special dessert to our table!

I could and often do eat a bite of just about everything there. The first time we went, we asked each chef at each station to tell us about the dishes, and they did a great job....we went to the earliest seating and had plenty of time to do this.

Everyone has different tastes and likes , that's just how it is.

I think it is great that people at least try it, but it won't please everyone.

I never think of myself as picky eater, but, I am rethinking this. I just eat alot of the few things I like. Like pizza for instance. Therefore, when you read the remainder of this post please keep in mind that I am a self admitted Picky Eater. I am also an American food eater, or at least an Americanized food eater. Give me a Taco Bell combo burrito for 1.29 (ok, two combo burritos) over an authentic burrito costing 12.00 and giving me the runs any day. Same way with spaghetti (I like it out of the box).

I had no clue what most of the stuff at Boma was, thus, I didn't eat it. The stuff I did try was not to my liking. So, Boma was not for me or my family. It may be for some people. And, like a previous poster explained, it is probably worth trying, for me and my family full of picky eaters once was enough. If you have kids just be ready for them to not like it. I am sorry to be so negative but, our dislike of the food cannot be due to an "off night". The quality of the food is undoubtedly first class. It is also, obviously, authentic and true to it's African tradition. But, if you don't like beets you don't like beets no matter how well they are prepared. I don't like beets.

I happen to agree....I don't think the food was due to a bad night, we just didn't like it. It appeared some people around us were enjoying it. I think I hyped it up alot, and was just dissapointed with the product. But it's not a big deal I just won't go there again. I'm all for trying different places.

Well I'm in the same boat as you, I don't touch coffee, but the domes were very good. I wouldn't say the best dessert I've ever had but they were tasty and did were coffee flavored. Basically a soft shell with a custard type filling.

I totally agree with you here. We've never had a bad meal at WDW. Yes, some have been better than others, but we've thoroughly enjoyed them all. We love Boma for both breakfast and dinner and look forward to going back, though Le Cellier is my favorite(I do think the greatness of the breadsticks is way over exaggerated). It's all in what you like. There are quite a bit of different things at Boma, but I was actually a little disappointed that most things were similar to what I might eat here in the states. I did think the food was great, and we became hooked on the quinoa at breakfast!

Sorry to hear your experience wasn't good!

edited to add: I have no idea why mu quote didn't turn out...never had a problem before..oh well :confused3
