We will be staying at AKL 2nd July - 14th and are thinking about Boma as we have read some fantastic reviews. What would be the dinner buffet items that you consider to be 'must try', this is coming from a family who cant eat anything too spicy ::MinnieMo

I love their soups, the flatbreads and hummus are also very good, as well as whatever meat they have in the carving station that night, and of course keep room for dessert...
We love Boma.

Another vote for the hummus. So yummy. And the desserts are good, and the carving station.. so delicious

Wow those pics sure look good.

I can't wait to try it. I may come back disappointed but it's something to at least try once. I hear that Sunday is Chef's choice and you can get more variety on that night. Is that true or am I just wishfully thinking (I have it tentatively scheduled for a Sunday. Wooohooo!!!!

We had several VERY picky eaters in our group. One of them came back with a plate full of food from the "kids" bar (mac 'n cheese, chicken strips, etc) We picked on him so much that he went back and got a few of the african dishes and enjoyed them. I encouraged everyone to get a small sample of everything up there and at least taste it. Most everyone did and like the majority of the items on the menu. There were, of course, some that we didn't like. However, there was a rather large variety.

Not to mention the views for AKL over the safari are beautiful. Enjoy!

Boma is one of our top 3 restaurants in WDW. Soooo good. The hummus is fabulous, as are desserts. Soups are very good and I always enjoy the salads, very refreshing. My family really likes the salmon as well. Make sure you talk to the chefs--they are very helpful and friendly! :teeth:

Thanks for all the help!! My are those pics making my mouth water...we will definitely be giving Boma a try on our summer trip ::MinnieMo

Never heard anything before about anything special on Sunday; recently went on a Sunday, then again on Wednesday and didn't really notice anything special about Sunday.

The boma menu rotates so there are some items that always seem to be there (prime rib, spicy chicken, hummus bar). Other items that are always there, but may have a different preparation (for example, they always seem to have salmon, sometimes its nut crusted, other times in a mustard sauce). There are always 4 different soups which change nightly. When I was there on Sunday, there were 4 totally different soups on Wednesday. Then there are other items which rotate in and out. On various visits I've seen coca-cola glazed pork, ribs, flank steak. I really love Boma and eat there at least once (sometimes twice) on each visit!

I love the Bobuti, sweet mashed potatoes and the hummus!!

The Zebra domes are awesome too. Its my favorite restaurant. I have eaten here twice on one vacation its so good!

we love boma do it every time. my kids love it to surpisingly cosidering the menu.

Coconut Curried Chicken Soup hands down. I could live the rest of my life eating nothing but that soup. :jumping1:

I stayed at AKL and loved it, but did not enjoy any of the three restaurants there. I am somewhat picky, but not overly so. The complaint about Mara was how slow it took to get your food. If you are at all a picky eater, Boma will be a disappointment to you.

BOMA is my new favorite Disney resturaunt!! I am a very very picky eater and Everything is great but I like the desserts the best! :flower:

We ate there in Feb. '05. My faves were the crusted salmon, cole slaw, and the banana bread pudding.

We went in Jan. Our server told us to try one spoonful of everything. All of us got different things and tried as much as we could.
Boy, was he right! Everyone had different favorites, and we all went back till we had to waddle out of there!
My favorites were the carrot ginger soup,Sounds yucky but is absolutely fantastic, and the chicken coconut curry stew. The prime rib is also terrific!

We had ordered a specialty cake to celebrate my sisters engagement, so didn't try any desserts, Can't wait to sample those this time!

We leave in22 days!! and are staying there the last 2 nights of the vacation.

Having said all that, Ohana's is still DH favorite place!

Bomas was my favorite by far. I am pretty picky, but that night, I tried a little of most everything. I loved the bobotie and the pap and??? Does anyone know what the tomatoey stuff was that is next to the pap? I would love the recipe for that. I saw it in vascubaguy's pictures - next to the pap. Anyone??? Thanks.
